Oh yay for a tooth butternut! They often come in pairs so she could still be working on a second one if she is still a bit fussy.

Ada is walking like crazy. I have let her walk on the sidewalk a few times and she just gets so excited and just walks with a big smile on her face. She also got her first elbow scrap after falling two days ago. But she didn't cry and I didn't even see that she was bleeding until we got home.

She is also starting to talk a lot more. We have a bus stop in front of our apartment and every time she sees a bus she says "buh buh". And she says "bube" for bubbles. She is also repeating a lot of what we say. I said blah blah blah a few days ago and then she said it back. She also tries to make a monkey noise when I do it and she goes "woo woo" when she sees a dog. She's been saying no for quite awhile but when I asked her something this morning she said "yes!" and nodded her head. She just randomly says other things too and it always catches me by surprise.

I always feel like we are at the cutest phase but then she just gets more amazing and cute as she begins to learn and do more stuff!

This is all so exciting. I love reading your updates because Our babies are about six weeks apart and I love seeing what is going to come next! I also feel like this is the cutest base, glad to hear there is more to come!

So, we had an awful night and I was pretty angry with Grey, not a feeling I like. That being said, yesterday we had such a great day. He is crawling so much and starting the bear crawl. He keeps getting scraped knees and he had a huge splinter in his foot the other day. He didn't even care. He is also getting attached to other people besides Nate and I! I really like that too. I also feel like there are lots of times that he prers Nate to me, of course I want to be his favorite, but it is a great feeling to know that sometimes he wants someone else.

Ditto to those saying that the tooth breaking through the skin seemed to quell the pain mostly. Freya seems to be working on two more, on either side of her first two. Four teeth on the bottom will be quite funny, I think.

@sashi...I swear I used to laugh out loud when people would say things about how boring it must be to work with kids all day. This late infant/early toddler phase is really just one of the most amazing times of all nature to me. They seem to change every day. Already, at just six months, I find myself saying to the bean "when did you learn to do that?" (today, banging on the formula can "drum" with a wooden spoon)

Will had his 4 month appt today. 16.5#, 26 inches and healthy! Also, doc didn't make a fuss when I told him we weren't doing cereal, just asked why not. I don't know why, but I was stressed about that!

Will and Henry are about the same size! H holds his weight in his cheeks, I think, they're huge. He's continued his mission to start crawling. He always wakes up in a different part of his crib than he gets put down in and is starting to pull his knees under him and sort of shimmy forward with his arms. Also the past 3 out of four nights he's slept from around 7 to around 4:30. Who knew I'd ever be so excited to be able to sleep in until 4:30!

Malka had her not-totally-well 9 month visit this morning. She is 19 pounds, 28 inches. Her weight gain has fallen down to the 50% curve and her height has risen up to the 50%, so now she matches I guess. She was on or ahead of developmental and physical milestones (especially the physical!) and the doctor said to expect one or two words before we bring her back for the 12 month appointment and for her to really start responding to her name and to start understanding some of what we're saying to her. The doctor was surprised by how physically agile and strong she's become.

She got her last Hep B vaccine and her third (of 4) Prevnar (pneumonia vaccine). She also got put on oral antibiotics and a prescription topical antibiotic gel for staph (which I wrote about in the ventilation station).

They also re-evaluated her birth mark, which is vascular and goes from her foot to her butt cheek on one leg - they can't tell if it's a port wine stain or something less ominous, because it's pretty pale most of the time, but they're going to refer us to a specialist next time. The treatment for this kind of stuff involves general anesthesia, which we wouldn't want to do with her anytime soon, but it also is something we'd want to treat sooner rather than later if there's major nerve involvement, to avoid any imbalance developing between her legs.

Oh, poor bear. I hope her staph clears up soon. I got a bad infection on my head/scalp a few years ago and it was hideous...pus and boils (seriously, it was like something Exodus). The gel I had worked magic though and it's not come back since, knock on wood. Hopefully, the visit re: her birthmark will reveal that it's not too serious either.

She is cute as a button, regardless of her maladies. :)

reffinej, that's great that your infection cleared up so well, it bodes well. I understand sometimes they recur or are hard to treat (particularly if they are the big bad MRSA sort).

She is still really cute. We went to look at apartments and the realtor thought she was adorable, despite the crazy bandaging on her hand and her open sores.

wolverine had his first poop I needed to scrape off the diaper this morning. I don't know why this seems like a milestone for me but it does. His dad fed him something other than puffs yesterday which is huge (for my partner. for some reason he is afraid of him eating anything messy.) He gave him hummus on toast. This kid loves his toast. He has also been sleeping in his crib for the past few days because I moved it against the side of our bed. This is huge for all of us because we had been having major sleep issues. I think this will really help.

Reno lost her first tooth yesterday! It came to a point where we had to hold her down while she was screaming and crying and have my MIL pull it out. If she just pushed it with her tongue it would have come out on it's own since it was so loose. It was becoming a problem. After it was all done she said she was so happy that we pulled it out for her. Even though she knows the tooth fairy isn't real she wanted to put the tooth under her pillow because she couldn't wait to see what she would get. I sometimes hate that she goes to school with kids that believe in santa, tooth fairy, easter bunny.

Oh man JENNA, that is exciting! But sad that she was upset about it. I still remember losing my first tooth. It was the middle of the night and I was so excited that I woke like everyone in my family up, including my 4 or 5 month old brother. My mom was pissed, but we all laugh in hindsight.

Did I mention the Magician sits now? It's great. I put him in a sitting position constantly because I'm hoping maybe that will slow down his crawling developments. He is way too mobile already. He's really into what I call teleporting... you put him down in one place, wait five seconds, and he's suddenly somewhere else entirely.

Also, we measured the Emperor and he's like 38 inches tall now. Crazy. He's grown like half a foot in the past year.

Charlie was 4 months old yesterday, and he rolle from belly to back today! It's kind of funny to me because his older sister literally never rolled over either way. She just basically went from laying to sitting to standing - she never crawled either. He's also 16+ pounds while Lucy is 25 (and three years old). I swear he's not my child.

Gey slept soooooo well last night. And my restless legs didn't bother me. I am going to start recording what I am eating each day and what exercise I get and see if it makes a difference.

Yesterday my FIL left after being here for a week and Grey was so upset all day. It's crazy how much he realizes what is going on.

Just stopping in for a quick hello to y'all:
I've been back at work, with Sierra, for a week now. I hesitate to jinx things but its been ok, like with anything there have been good days and bad days. The good consists of her nursing several times - like now, laying on the Brest Friend while I type - and sleeping a couple hours. The bad was really only one day, where she did not sleep AT ALL and I was losing my mind trying to hold her constantly so she wouldn't wail. I'm so lucky that my work day is only 7 hours. The sling and moby wrap have both been lifesavers.
Her cries are not quite that loud at this point in her life, so thats a good thing - my boss doesn't seem particularly fazed by them, which I was worried about since he's 81, hasn't been around infants in a looong time and can be cantankerous. In fact, I think he's kinda falling in love with Sierra - he steals many peeks at her and says hello/goodbye to her every time he goes anywhere. And nobody has gotten an eyeful of boob yet, although the mailman came close.
I've learned some useful things. Namely that it takes me 2.5 rings of the phone to shove a boob in a wailing baby's mouth. Luckily the phone doesnt ring that often!
And Dahlia has been super-good with the whole situation. She is totally obsessed with her baby dolls now and spends a LOT of time swaddling them and shushing them. And as much as she loved having me home full-time for a month I think she's kinda stoked to have Papa all to herself again too.

Audrey, that is a great report! I'm so glad things are working out well and it's kind of like you have the best of all worlds - both of your kids get their own full-time parent!

We had a playdate at a pool that had a huge sprayground and Leela (who hates baths) LOVED it! She played in the playground and got quite intrepid crawling around, but the best was when she was screaming with joy and kicking her legs in the big pool. I think she wants to learn to swim. Plus she was understanding the cause and effect of the water fountains, which was cool. So neat to see their little brains working.

It was wonderful to see her so happy. And of course she conked out the minute we got home (win!).

Tofulish, that is so awesome. Sounds like a pool worth trying out! Malka likes crawling around in the "beach entry" area of our pool and standing up against the edge in the shallow area. She also likes sitting and splashing - she's a little perplexed by the idea of kicking I think.

Ariann, we really need to go on a day that you're off work! That said. Asbury Park has a pretty cute sprayground too :)

Just a quick hello, I know it's been a while! I often don't get a chance to be on my computer and ppk needs an app already!

Jordan is 6 months old, he has 2 teeth, sits up (mostly) on his own, he's almost crawling(ahhhh), he loves to swim and is a breastfeeding champ! I've given him a few foods here and there but I kind of want to EBF until he's 1. We'll see how that goes since he sometimes bites me :o

Hi momo! Glad to hear all is well!

Will popped a tooth this afternoon! He had a red bump on his gums earlier in the week and had one really fussy day. So far, so good... but I think it's harder on me than him!

I think early teeth are a mixed blessing... Really hard for you as a parent, but the baby will never remember it! That said, the Magician popped tooth #3 last week... And now suddenly three forking more are coming in at the same time.... Not seeming too awesome right now.

Hey Momo! Glad to hear your little guy is doing well!
