My pregnancy update is that I was feeling really great and full of energy until three days ago...now I am SOOOOOO tired and fatigued all the time. Is this going to be my new normal until delivery? I am due in just about two weeks now - eight more work days until my maternity leave begins I cannot wait!

Today, it is hot. I decided to break out some of the summer maternity dresses that my MIL bought me on our last thrift store trip and THEY DON'T FIT. I'm so annoyed. I haven't even had a chance to wear them and they don't fit now that I need them.
Ugh ugh ugh.

I'm sorry to hear about your clothes butterbobbin...I know how you feel. The shorts I bought for my summer maternity wardrobe are too tight now that I actually need them. My wardrobe has dwindled to two pairs of work accepatable pants (both of which I have to spend all day pulling back up over my belly), two sundresses which are a little snug at the backside, and about four t-shirts/tanktops. At 38 weeks though I refuse to buy anymore clothes.

you guyz!!!
i am totally prepared for the arrival of this new baby and i'm not even 20 weeks yet!
the only thing i have yet to do is buy a big girl bed for tzipi so we can convert her current toddler bed back into the crib and put it in our room. i think i might get a second diaper pail. the one we have now is just a step can from walmart or someplace, and it works perfectly... it would be nice to have a second place to toss diapers though. and i'll cut up some more cloth wipes. we have all the ones from tzipi still, but unless she's totally potty trained in 4 months (hah), i'm guessing we'll need a few more.
all the baby things are in a big rubbermaid neatly labeled 0-3 months, so i just need to pull those out and wash 'em. i bought a bunch of cloth diapers to supplement the newborn stash (we only had 12 prefolds the first time, so only cloth diapered part time), so that's done too. the infant car seat and bouncy chair i borrowed from my friend are safely tucked away in a closet.
i'm a super star! man, this is so different from last time, when i was in freaking labor at 35 weeks with not even a onesie to my name. my mom brought down a big bag of clothes and took my husband shopping while i was still in the hospital to buy a crib and change table. we had nothing... no bottles, no blankets, no pacifiers, no clothes or carriers or diapers or anything. so ridiculous. i have no idea what possessed me.

You have so much done, now you have time to really concentrate on some possibilities! My sister-in-law didn't have a name until after she was born, and they just kind of picked something, but now it totally suits her. I'm named what I am because my mom was convinced she was having a boy (she didn't have an ultrasound), and she made a promise to my great-grandmother, who I am forever grateful to. The name will come, one way or another!

Littlebird - Just having the name left is awesome! You have something to think about, but you don't have to worry! Lots of time left to pick, and even if you give birth first, you can decide upon seeing your little one!
I'm almost 38 weeks! The baby is starting to feel a bit lower, though I'm not really feeling that same "dropped" feeling yet, but I don't think I have too much longer. Also kind of feeling more "open", but I don't know if that's something I can feel physically or if I am mentally getting ready. Either way works for me! I am flip-flopping between a little bit nervous/anxious and super-ready-can't-wait-to-see-baby feelings. I can't believe I'm almost there!

This weekend I had my first encounter with busy-body men thinking they can police my pregnant body and the choices I, an adult person, can make. I was at the Oslo vegetarian festival, and first the person at the kombucha table refused to let me sample his kombucha. I told him that I am aware of the benefits/risks of kombucha while pregnant and that I am fine with it. To be clear: the samples are A SIP! I could probably take a sip of I don't know, drain cleaner, and the fetus and I would be fine. Maybe not drain cleaner, but anyway, there's very few foods that a sip of would harm me or the fetus. I explained to him patiently that I am informed and it is paternalistic to tell an adult human what she can/cannot do with her body: it's rude, insulting, and inappropriate. This crasshole would *not* back down. He starts going on about how it is his personal law to not give kombucha to pregnant women and how he would be responsible if I had a sip of kombucha and miscarried. Right, random stranger. When the risk of miscarriage is high he wouldn't be able to see who is pregnant and who is not and judge them. This went on for *minutes*. Me demanding the right to make decisions about my own body, him demanding his right to not allow me to do so. Moments later, at the barley grass table, that man would not even answer my question about if he sold a blend of barley grass and wheat grass (one of the ingredients I add to my smoothies) because it has too much vitamin K for a pregnant woman to consume. Since I was already full of adrenaline from the first encounter, I could barely talk to him. I angrily told him I am informed, I eat chlorophyll rich foods in sensible quantities because of their iron content, I am not worried about ODing on barley grass vitamin K, and that I decide what is healthiest for me and my fetus, not some stranger. Then I just walked away. No way I would buy from him at that point. I don't even think he was as bad as the first man, I just couldn't deal with it at that point. At the second green-powder table, I had my sweetheart go buy me a container so I wouldn't have to deal with any potential drama! He actually went and bought me green powder secretly (and brought me a secret sample) because of those previous judgmental crassholes! I'm lucky. I have not dealt with any of this judgmental bullshiitake from strangers my entire pregnancy until this weekend. But fork. A woman can't enjoy the once-a-year vegetarian festival without some crassholes getting all up in on her business? I'm still so angry about it. I could do lines of barley grass powder and the fetus would be fine. My sweetheart wishes he could have filmed everything- he thinks if he'd had a camera there it would have ended with me going back and drinking whiskey in front of those men :).

Mapmapmap, that is so frustrating! The whole time I was reading that, I was thinking "wouldn't it be worse by his logic to give it to a woman he couldn't tell was pregnant yet since the fetus is more at risk when it's wee?" Anyway, I love that your sweetie got a sample for you.
So I'm 10 days away from my due date, and I am really wishing due dates actually meant baby will be here on or by this day. Knowing it could actually come any time between now and a few weeks from now is starting to get to me. I just want to know if I should relax for two more days before baby arrives, or if I have a couple weeks and may as well spend a little extra time with my sweet little son at the playground/etc. Also - I lost my camera a couple days ago in my super tidy house (how?!), so I hope baby doesn't come until after I find it.

The not knowing drove me crazy, bodhi! We were totally not expecting me to go into labor before the due date since it was my first baby and it seemed like everyone in my family went to 41 or 42 weeks. Also, towards the end my partner would get worried about me being out by myself because he imagined that I would be walking down the street and my water would break in a dramatic gush. At our last midwife appointment before Scarlett was born, I laughed at him and told him it only happens that way in the movies, and it's much more likely that labor would start with easy contractions. Then the next day my water broke in a dramatic gush at 38 1/2 weeks. Ha!

I have officially 2 weeks until I can technically give birth any time ... so I'm kind of freaking out. I've still got so much to do! My freezer food stash is not increasing and I am just SO uncomfortable. Sigh. But I'm also thankful to not have two children to care for quite yet...
Next Monday we plan to go shopping for a toilet and cheapo carpet / linoleum so we can have our bedroom/bathroom in our unfinished house as ready as it'll probably be for the birth. I do not care to give birth in this tiny trailer we're living in right now.
Getting a lot of Braxton-Hicks and the baby keeps putting a lot of pressure on one little spot with what I assume is a knee. It REALLY hurts. Especially if I bend forward at all.

Officially on maternity leave! It couldn't come too soon as I would say I am pretty uncomfortable now. He feels like he will fall out when I am walking around...guess that isn't true ;) 5 days away from the official due date! I think we are pretty much ready for baby...now to prepare for my parents to come and stay. They are bringing a bedroom set for our guest room, which means we have to clean all the junk out of the guest room before they arrive. All I want to do is lay on the couch and eat watermelon.
