Pregnancy Updates Thread

Yay! Starting maternity leave is the best feeling ever! Hope you find some time to lounge and eat watermelon in between everything else.

Thought last night was going to be the night - occasional contractions during the evening, then four contractions within about fifteen minutes - but then they slowed right down and kind of disappeared. Soon though!

My husband and I are expecting our first child, due date is January 12th, and we are slowly coming to the realization that pretty soon it will no longer be the two of us. We are super excited about finally being able to start a family!

So far the first trimester has been crazy. I am am sick constantly and the one food that I love to eat, beans, my body says "NO! You must eat only whole wheat pancakes, potatoes, and salt-free saltines!" I hear that you get your appetite back in the second trimester, which I am looking forward to!

Overall, I love being pregnant and am excited for this new adventure!

Aww, thank you! I forgot to update it on the Due Date List thread, but it was officially moved to the 7th because of my ultrasound results. Either way, I'm almost done!

we're having a girl!! we just did the ultrasound today.

it's funny, i'm happy, but it totally wasn't a surprise at all. i would have been completely floored if it had been a boy, but this was like, oh cool, moving on. i know mr. bird is a little bummed though. this is probably going to be our last and he has this idea about "passing his name on to a boy" which is totally sexist, but whatever, i get it.

more cool this time was really just seeing the little bug moving around and kicking. i've been so busy with work and tzipi and just life that is was really special and helpful for me to just spend a good 30 minutes watching her move around and seeing her face and all. she was completely uncooperative too! head down and facing back, so they had me leave and get lunch and drink something sweet to see if she'd change positions a bit.

Today is officially my due date...I'm thinking there will be no baby today since the midwife did a cervical check on monday and said still only 1 cm,75% effaced. Plus I still haven't had anything remotely resembling a contraction. At least I will get to enjoy a barbecue with my family and maybe see some fireworks then! Happy 4th of July!

This was me... then less than 24 hours later baby arrived! Hope you get to enjoy the holiday, but don't give up on meeting your baby today.

-Congratulations, Littlebird! That's exciting. I felt the same way when I found out my second was another boy (so two boys, opposite of you!)

Zephyr Grey. With his big brother touching his soft, little hand.

I'll add the birth story to that thread a little later, but all went extremely well and very quickly. Woke up at 4:30am, and had my little one in my arms at 10:32am!
