Mother forking (literally) fireworks. I am so forking tired and I feel 100% certain that the sound of these freaking things is going to keep one or both of my kids up.

We left my parents' house at 9:15 and got home at 10. I thought ahead and put poopiebaby's pajamas on him before leaving their house, so it would be a quick and easy transfer from the car to the bed. Except when we got home our power was out. I had to go around through the front door to get the garage open, then the power thingy (no idea what it's called) was beeping incessantly, and it was hot. 96 degrees outside when we got home (at 10pm), so not very pleasant inside with no power. I tried to get poopiebaby to sleep, but it was too hot, too dark, and the beeping was annoying.

The power finally came back on around 10:45, but now the fireworks in the street have woken him up four times in the last hour. It's been a long exhausting day, and I just want a little peace and quiet and time to unwind before bed! Come on people, do me a solid and stop with the fireworks.

You are terrified of baths, but I can't keep you out of the dog's bowl. Plus side: our floor has never been cleaner.

Also, the TJ's no preservative tortillas spoil so fast and the Maria Richardo ones (organic, vegan but with preservatives) have survived for over a year in our fridge.

This has been pretty much the worst day. It's been like 2 weeks since I slept more than 2 hours at a stretch and I'm losing it. E stayed up til 11 pm thanks to fireworks and was up at his normal time anyway. He is acting like a real jerk. I tried to send him for a rest but it didn't work. He woke up the baby five minutes into his nap and it took me almost two hours to get M back to sleep and involved a lot of crying on his part.

I'm so tired and I can't believe how angry I feel at a 2 year old. I'm having a mom time out because seriously I can't handle this without one.

Baby, please sleep. I will do *whatever* you want. 1 1/2 hours followed by a 5 hour nurseathon doesn't work for mommy. 2 1/2 months of this schedule is more than enough.

Now, you sleep 20 minute stretches in the evening. *sigh*

Sleep, for the love of god, sleep.

Last week Baby Godzilla had got constipated and had some real trouble going to the toilet. It was heartbreaking hearing him crying but Pete was his poo cheerleader and they got through it.

This week he said he was having the same trouble, although when asked where it happens apparently it doesn't happen at Mummy's house, only at Daddy's house. We figure he wanted a reprise of the support and attention he got from his father last week (his Mum assured us that he'd had no trouble going to the toilet all week). He'd been in the bathroom for about 20 minutes, pretend-crying and chanting 'Daddy my bum hurts' like a mantra before quietly sneaking back to bed. He didn't do a poo (he didn't need to do one, it turned out) and his Mum confirmed that his confidence has taken a knock and he's clinging to positive attention like a limpet. His Dad is rather frazzled.

Someone is shooting off fireworks very near our house.

It may be the last thing they do this side of heaven.

Grr.

Early this morning Mr8 got up to use the bathroom and could hear BG calling 'Daddy, my bottom hurts. Daddy, my bottom hurts. Daddy, my bottom hurts.' over and over although there wasn't anything wrong with him.

Friday gave the wonderful advice to parent the need not the behavior. Maybe you could try and figure out the need, and parent that, even though the behavior is definitely annoying. Big hugs to you. Step-parents like you are so awesome - they step in and they provide much needed love and stability for a kid who needs it.

Naps. Not going down, but waking up.

Baby Monitor: Waaaa!
*go upstairs*
Me: (whispering) Hey little guy, you up? Wanna go downstairs and play?
Little Guy: WAAAAA!!!
Me: C'mon buddy, let's go have lunch!
Little Guy: *scoots to far corner of crib, lays down, whimpers, closes eyes*
Me: Ok, guess you're still tired. Nighty night.
*go downstairs*
Baby Monitor: Waaa!
Repeat.

Ok Guy, I'm sorry your Mommy isn't here but I'm pretty cool. In fact you like me (once you are fully awake) and by the time your Dad gets home you cling to me like a spider monkey and ignore him. So please don't scream bloody murder, arch your back and basically act as though I am torturing you when I eventually scrape you out of your crib.

Could you please—please—stop arguing? Just take a breath and let it go and stop arguing. You might even like it.

I know I would.

I'm so mad at the Emperor right now. We were supposed to go to a vegan pizza potluck party this evening. It's something I've been looking forward to for weeks. His sleep has been all messed up since the 4th of July and he's been insane on account of it. Today he woke up way too early and went from bad to worse. We went to put him down for a nap and he went from worse to intolerable. It's 2 hours later and I'm done fighting with him about it. I've contacted our friends and let them know we're not coming. Because even if I was going to reward his bad behavior with a pizza party of all things, no way am I inflicting him on our friends in his current state.

Being a responsible parent forking sucks sometimes.

And now he's shrieking anytime basically anything happens near him. We had a toy to the baby-- shrieking! I tell him that he needs to put on underwear-- shrieking! I go into the bathroom-- shrieking outside the door! Early bedtime, for sure, but we'll see if he actually stays in freakin' bed. I predict shrieking.

On the upside, he's really building up that lung strength for his future in the opera.

...but he seems to have actually gone to bed. Go figure. I'm not going to complain AT ALL.

Some days I'm glad to still be in the infant stage, where the obnoxiousness is limited. :p
