Hi all,

Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm a vegan chef, avid PPK fan, and currently TTC. I'm psyched to find this forum because one thing I'm lacking in life is a proper vegan community!

Anyone here from Long Island??

-Lauren

Had my midwife appointment today - everything looking lovely except my iron levels are "borderline" sigh...but she did say this is the lowest point for iron in pregnancy and so I needn't necessarily change anything. I also told her about the work situation and she said that "they" (and I'm sorry I didn't bother to ask who "they" are) recommend no traveling greater then 1 hour from home after 35 weeks - so that was OK I guess...we also went over my "birth plan" and she was very enthusiastic about hypnobabies and was telling me about how she used hypnosis for her chronic shoulder pain and post-op surgical pain and how awesome it was...so altogether a very positive appointment.

I really want to do hypnobirthing, so I guess I should sign up for a class. It doesn't seem like there are good DVDs on the subject. I'm guessing that traveling more than 1 hour from home is OK if your hospital is located an hour and a half from your house (hospital is a couple miles from my work--all of this is close from home by car, but faaaar by bus)? I'm glad you won't have to travel for long at least, but the month or so won't be fun :(

I was often closer to borderline on the iron levels, I never understood that well, it was always mentioned and I was always within the safe area despite it being on the lower end. For other reasons I was tested on this and other things 2-3 times a week so I know it was like this half the time at least in my first pregnancy. I never had to take any supplements for it.

Great to hear your appointment went well!

I've got a lump in my armpit and I'm trying to stay calm. My OB will look at it Monday. Odds are it's breast tissue (I had a similar lump in the same armpit right after Walter was born that resolved after a few weeks), or a lymph node (I've been sick with a cold and then a stomach bug). Has anybody else had weird breast lumps while pregnant?

I had something like that and went to a breast specialist who told me it was just migrated breast tissue, which then engorged during my pregnancy. Supposedly it will go away once I stop nursing, but basically it is no big deal. I kind of wish my boobs had gotten bigger instead but whatevs :)

I hope that you get an answer soon and that it isn't anything to worry about. Hope you and Walter are doing well!

I did have some odd lumps at one point- cant remember if it was pregnancy or early breastfeeding- and they did go away after I stopped nursing. Hope you get resolution to this soon, mittenmacher, thinking of you!

24 weeks now and yesterday is when a change started to happen in Chalupa Batman's movement. Starting to feel like something more than just twitches. More squirmy, maybe? Like it feels more like a snake moving around than just a teensy little boop. Haha snake just doesn't seem like a good word to use and the imagery is all wrong, but it feels like it! About time! I almost made a post earlier yesterday about "when will it feel like more than just a twitch?!"

Hello Lauren, welcome!

My specialty - beyond tasty vegan food :) - are recipes using whole/natural foods, emphasis on organic/seasonal ingredients - I love cooking Mediterranean food the most, I'd say, although I do a bit of everything.

Thanks, Pinko! I figure the terrified will wear off in about 18 years or so.

i took a hypnobirthing class and as i understand it the creator Marie Mongan is super proprietary about her ideas so if she hasnt made a dvd there probably isnt one or there might be some with a slightly different name or something.
she has the book and it comes with a cd in the back of relaxtion stuff and then there is another cd you get if you take a class that's called the rainbow relaxation or something. some people love the rainbow thing i absolutely hated it. i liked the cd in the book!

if you're interested in hypnobirthing i would recommend taking a class because they will go over the techniques with you and give you various handouts and stuff that are helpful.
