chiveggie wrote: thanks ladies. The wait is so awful poopie! Good luck making it that long without testing. My wait will be short this time because I had blood work today and have to go in again in a week for a follow-up visit to see if the clomid did what it should've done. They said they'd do a pregnancy test then if I hadn't started my period. I asked if it mattered that according to my chart I ovulated on day 18 instead of 14, but they still want me to come in on day 28 regardless of what info I have. If my temperature is correct, this will be the earliest I've ever ovulated by 8 days. Its so interesting to see how differently our MDs handle chlomid! Mine had me come in a few days before ovulation, so she could check the follicles to see how many were ready to go, because their office gets really nervous if you have too many eggs ready to go. But then again they trigger your ovulation with an HCG shot and then do IUI... Sending all you lovelies lots of good thoughts.

Well, my period started, so I'm out of the running this month. I'm really glad I didn't waste a test. It's disappointing, but I'm happy that this means I really did ovulate when I thought I did, my luteal phase is around what I thought it was, and my cycle is becoming more and more regular.
I'm still sending you happy baby dust, chiveggie!

Stinks that this month didn't work out for you poopie, but yea for a cycle that is heading towards normal.
Tofulish- My OB is just a general OB, so I'm sure if I progress to an RE things will be a little more in depth. Her philosophy was more or less "this plan works for so many of my patients with irregular cycles, that I try it for 2 cycles before sending you on to a specialist to do more specific testing". I'll find out Friday if she wants to do the same thing next cycle, or add a trigger shot. I'm assuming if my blood work showed I ovulated I wouldn't need the trigger? I'll have to research that some more. WIth UIU you get a much greater chance of fertilization than the "have sex every other day" advice right? So I would assume they'd want to make sure you aren't getting too many eggs in there just in case. Unless of course, you want your own TLC show :)

Ah poopie, what a bummer, though it's great that your cycle seems to be stabilizing. Better luck next month!

Thanks guys. I wish my cycle wasn't 45 freakin' days long, but at least it's pretty consistent!

Is it terrible of me that I'm now hoping not to become pregnant until October? Mr AH and I just booked a 2 week vacation in Mexico for September, and I plan on enjoying it just as much as last time. ;-)
2 weeks till my ultrasound and appointment at the fertility clinic.

Oooh, quick question now that I'm thinking of it... for other PCOS sufferers on Metformin... what changes did you notice in your cycle/symptoms when you started it? I just had my first period, first cycle on Metformin and I had a slightly longer cycle (36 days rather than the usual 32) and menstrual cramps that would take down an elephant. (I have always had really painful cramps on day 1, but they haven't been this debilitating the last several years.) Also, I'm much more energetic (could be attributed to the B12 I'm also supplementing, and my multivit), my acne has all but completely cleared (I haven't had skin this clear since I was 10 years old), and despite cutting calories and working out a few times a week, I haven't dropped an ounce. BUT I feel considerably less bloated. I'm also a lot less of a moody freak, which my husband would agree is nice. :-)

resisting the urge to test ridiculously early. My body is doing weird things, and it's way too early (7 days post ov) to be pregnancy related, and too early to be pre-period related too.
AH: I guess either way you win right? Either preggo or a good vacation with lots of beachy drinks

I'm so annoyed. Went to my Dr. appointment for my "day 28" doctor appointment, but things were screwed up. The first thing they did was draw blood. I thought it was odd, but then thought maybe they were doing a pregnancy test via blood? Afterwards, I spoke up, and said I thought I was having a doctor appointment too. After a lengthy conversation, they blamed it on the computer system, and let me know my doctor wasn't even working today. They had drawn my blood to do the exact same progesterone test they did last week. what the fizzle? Luckily the nurse was very nice while trying to sort everything out for me. Eventually she had me do a urine pregnancy test and was able to get me in to talk with a different doctor about my test results. She also kept saying that I was actually on day 27 of my cycle because they calculate using weeks and tomorrow will be 4 weeks from when my last period started. Huh? I count 28 days, fertility friend counts 28 days, I am confused.
Anyway the results: my pregnancy test was negative (10 days post ovulation, urine test taken in the middle of the day would no way be positive even if I am pregnant) and my progesterone test from day 21 was at 18, which is borderline low she said. She said at day 21 she said anything below 10 would be a bad sign, and anything above 20 would be good. I brought up (again, because I asked the nurse about it when I was in for blood work last week) that I most likely ovulated on day 18, not day 14. After explaining everything in detail about my long cycles she says "oh, well if your day 21 was actually more like day 16 or so, then the levels would be lower" Yes I knew that, that's what I tried to explain to the nurse last week!
She said to try another pregnancy test at home in the next few days, and if I need to, to do the same plan next month. She did say instead of making an appointment on day 21 and 28, to use my opk tests and come in when I think is about a week and 2 weeks after ovulation. I wanted to hug her for finally suggesting something that makes sense with what I know about my body, and not what the textbooks say my body should do. Ugh! Okay sorry for the novel.

it's been quiet in here lately...
My temp dropped yesterday and stayed low today. No period yet, but I'm expecting it soon. Not sure if that means I had a longer luteal phase (16 days?), ovulated a few days later than fertility friend thought, or maybe was pregnant for a few days and it didn't take? Oh well, I'm not over analyzing, just happy to take the 34 / 35 day cycle which is much better than my last 85 day cycle.
The upside is I had a horrible meeting at school and I had no feelings of guilt going to hot yoga and then having a big glass of wine to decompress after dealing with obnoxious parents that are big bullies.

Pelvic ultrasound tomorrow. I feel like this is the beginning of a year of too many doctor visits. (I'm used to going once a year.)
On a happy note... Today is 10 days not smoking! :-)

Those jerks sprung me with the trans-vaginal u/s too! No warning, nothing. I'm on the exam table and I get "we're gonna do the internal part next, is that okay?" Pffft, sure, fine, get it over with, whatever. You'd think they could have at least bought me dinner first.

AH: Good luck meeting your doctor, hopefully he/she will be friendly and have a plan with some actual answers
Crabby: I totally empathize. Long cycles are not fun. I just started my clomid again. My sides are feeling the effects. Glad that the meds are doing something down there, but not fun to feel like I just did a million side oblique sit ups. If my calcuations are correct, I'll probably be ovulating the weekend my parents are coming to stay with us. Slightly problematic for our very small house with thin walls. We'll make it work I suppose.

Still nothing - week and a half. I don't think I can test yet. Geez, we weren't trying for this at all. I chart, and we had sex the day I was scheduled to start my period, eleven days after ovulation. There should be no fertile business down there! Nate and I have been through a lot recently, and this was seriously the first time we've slept together in about 18 months. And look what happens. First time! Come on! (I'm sorry for complaining about possibly conceiving in the conceiving thread.)

*fingers crossed for a longer luteal phase now that I'm on B6. It was 7 days last cycle and 6 the cycle before that -- PMS and ovulation should not be BFFs. I'm on day 7 today. My temps did another 0.2 degree (celsius) jump yesterday. They are usually 36.4-5 when not ovulating and 36.6-8 when ovulating and yesterday, I was 36.98 and today I was 37.00, so I don't know what is up with that.
