Now that it's getting warmer out (finally!) does anyone want to try to meet up on the weekend sometime soon?

yes yes! weekends are, as usual, best for us, especially Sunday because D has ballet class on Sat from 11:15-12:15. And I kinda worry that it would be way too crowded on the weekend (I really, really hate crowds - I know, how do I live here again? by not doing much on weekends I guess) BUT I'd really like to check out some of those playgrounds on the lower west side. Like around Battery Park City? Some of them are featured here:
http://www.timeout.com/new-york-kids/things-to-do/25-best-playgrounds-in-new-york-city?pageNumber=5
also would love to go to Pier 6 in Brooklyn and the Hall of Science in Queens (though I'm probably the only person who lives close enough to make it worthwhile.)

Next week Sunday? We are busy this weekend, but free for the next two.

ooh next Sunday (the 13th right?) would be great because I'm looking to keep the kids out for as long as possible that day because H has a hellish work week coming up and would love some quiet on Sunday morning! we are outta town the following weekend though.

I can't do the 13th except for maybe later in the day - like after 3? Could do the 20th, but would be bummed by not being able to eat out/Passover. Could do the 27th, too, or the 26th after 11am.

We can do the 13th but we'll be in California on the 20th. The 27th also works for us.

Audrey, we'd be up for one of those playgrounds or Pier 6. I'd love to do the hall of science but it might be a little much for us to get to unless we take out a car.

The 13th works for us! Should we just plan on that, and then do another play date later on?

I am 99% sure the 13th would be great (that 1% is due to the MTA not telling us this far in advance if the L train won't be running.) Now the question is: where do we go and what do we do? Downtown is always best for us... if we want to branch out and try a new area I'm down but I know very little about vegan noms in the Battery Park area, for instance.

Let's plan for it and confirm closer to the date re L issues! Want to go to one of the Chinatown playgrounds and veggie dim sum or is that going to be stupid crowded?

After 6 years in NJ and not working in NYC for 3 years, I have to finally admit that I no longer am an authority in what to do in NYC :(

Also, is anyone else going to Adam Sobel's daughter's birthday party in Red Bank? Its going to be tons of vegan kiddos and an awesome potluck.

If you did the 27th I could come - though I don't have a kiddo to bring it would be fab to meet up with some NY ppkers while I'm in town!

I would totally be down for dim sum, I'll brave crowds for that because I haven't been in sooo long. And there's a pretty sweet playground on Hester St. further east as well. However I think a bunch of you guys did dim sum last time when we couldn't make it, so something different is cool by me too.

Ugh, I just wrote a long post and lost it. I can do the 13th I think. What is the red hook thing?

Another option could be to go to one of the parks and pick up (or bring) lunch to eat outside. That way the kids could run around if they need to. Like Tompkins square, Madion square, or I'm sure there's another park by food.

That is a great idea! Madison Square Park would be ideal for us. We could grab Terri sandwiches and hang out at the playground.

We're fine with either and had a blast with you guys at both! Just tell us where!

But I completely hear you that it would be great to not have to manage them in a restaurant!

So should we just do Madison square then? And what time is good for everyone?

We are in the throes of the flu, and I hope we're better soon, but I don't think we're likely to be able to make it. So please count us out for planning purposes. We'll have to do it again soon!

Oh yuck! I hope you're all better soon.

I hate to do this but I think it's going to be too much for us to do this Sunday. We're leaving on Tuesday for our trip and we still have a bunch of stuff that we need to do before we go. But we're still free on the 27th if anyone wants to do that day!
