As discussed in the randomness thread, K and I have been enjoying the weirdness that is Freya ever more as she gets older. So, I'm starting this thread in hopes that I'm not the only one with a freak baby. :p

For starters, the child is obsessed with butt cracks. Most anytime we are on the floor crawling or maybe on our knees playing, she starts pawing around, trying to pull down the backs of our pants, to see the goods. For awhile, though not always now, she would sign "boobies" when she caught a glimpse of my booty. Apparently I got some butt cleavage thing back there.

One of the more recent developments is her love of the word "damn". We were goofing around one night and she did something the man and I found impressive (I don't remember what now), and I said "you're good, damn!" (not my best parenting moment perhaps). Insane giggles. Much repetition over the next few days. Debating about trying to teach her to say it just because it would amuse my sisters and annoy my mom. :p

Another favorite that's come about over the past um, two weeks maybe is that she's decided to stop saying the word dog. This was her second ever word (after Pappa), at about 8 1/2 months, so it was well entrenched into her vocabulary. Now however, she has decided to pant like a dog whenever she sees one, not only in real life, but in books, on television, even just discussing a dog. She gets *really* into it.

Oi, I'm sure there are more. Since she was about 5 months old or so, I occasionally call her "weird baby". But y'know, Karl and I are pretty weird too! :)

Ha ha ha. Damn, I love Freya! (Hee.)

The Magician's favorite thing in the world right now is turning himself in a circle. We aren't sure why he does it but sometimes he'll spend like 40 minutes just doing it over and over. Here is a video:

The Emperor is really into this game where I pretend I've forgotten someone's name. (His favorite is me forgetting my own name.) So we'll have a conversation like this:

E: daddy!
Me: no, I'm not daddy. I'm that other one. You know, what's her face. It's something with an M... like Martha... or Margo...
E: MAMA!
Me: Or Mary... or... Mitzi?
E: MAMA ITS MAMA ITS MAMAMAAAAAAAAAAA
Me: Mama? No, that's not it... maybe it's Maggie?

And on and on. We can play this all day.

C&S, it sounds like the magician is singing Final Countdown while he spins.

c&s, just this week, Freya did this for the first time and fell right on her face and got carpet burn! I've only seen her attempt it once since then. M looks pretty serious about the whole circle business. E's game sounds pretty fun!

ETA: Is M dizzy there, right near the end? Maybe he's getting a natural high! :D

Freya sounds like so much fun!

Oh, M is so cute! Also, that name game! Iz and I have similar conversations - we also do a version where I use a different voice, and I'll say in a very squeaky voice/manly voice/etc "I'm pretty sure this IS my normal voice!" and Isaiah goes nuts saying, "NO! Mom, that's not your normal voice!" Then he cracks up and I'll say, "what? Don't laugh at my voice", and we just keep going and he loves it.

Iz does another thing where we ask him to say "squirrel". He can't get the "rl" sound yet, so it's really cute. He'll say it, then we laugh, and he laughs harder and says it again and again.

Bodhi, I am totally going to steal your funny voice game. E will love that! The word I'll miss when he gets past his baby lisp is "airplane"... Sort of like "ey-ya-pwane."

Nnej, he had been at it some time that night before I got the idea to film him.... So I think he must have been super dizzy.

Damn (for Freya!), the Magician is so freaking cute! Bodhi, your squirrel story makes me realize that poor Scarlett is not going to be able to pronounce her own name for a while.

Mooo, I have a video of him saying "squirrel" (sounds kind of like squoo-luh), so I'll post it when I have a chance so you can see the impending cuteness ahead of you!

Coldandsleepy, we have that same game going on here. I think she learned it from the hokey pokey at the library.

Our freaky thing? Anything that is long she picks up and puts it behind her neck and wears like its a feather boa....something I have not modeled nor has she seen. Seriously, she prances around like a burlesque dancer. Her favorite boa? The cheesecloth she unraveled from the kitchen drawer. Second favorite is papa's headphones, but she'll do it with anything she can drap.

She just walked through the living room with cheesecloth and the headphones at the same time...oh Lard.

YES! M does this too. Dish towels, hats, diapers, the tubes for my pump, stuffed animals, whatever. It's like the first thing he tries with any new object.

Maybe they should hang out, they seem to have a lot of shared interests.

hahaha, z does this also, often with the most inappropriate things, like her dad's y-fronts. she often drapes stuff over her entire head as well. and then proceeds to walk into furniture.

Elliot does that too. his favorite is a dog leash. really anything he can find that he can wear on his neck he will. he gets super obsessive about it and if we try and take it he has a fit even with a more fun replacement.

When I started cooking, Leela ran over with a container of nooch. And then when I said we weren't using it, she grabbed a spoon and ate it uncooked. My little vegan.

Henry does the put stuff over his head and around his neck too! His current weird habit is shaking his head back and forth repeatedly. I took a video, but don't know how to post it. But trust me, it's weird!

Screaming-begging for the lime I'm juicing...so I hand it to her assuming she'll drop it when she tastes it. Nope, she carries it around for the next twenty minutes licking it and making horrible faces.
