i might need a post-labor burrito! OMG, what I wouldn't do for a burrito I didn't make myself, let alone a burrito from an actual Mexican place. It almost seems like a fair trade for gas & air. ;D

Hmm, I haven't seen the video yet but I've heard about it. Do they get gas in the video? (I can't watch it right now). I don't think that's very common in the Netherlands actually. I think the epidural is becoming more popular now, but still a lot of women don't use any anaesthetics. I think about 50% of the women here want to stay at home, but a lot of them end up in the hospital, myself included. I really wanted to give birth at home, but my baby had pooped in the amniotic fluid, which can be a sign of distress, so I couldn't.

Yeah, I had a bowl of cereal that I'd brought from home, with milk I'd brought from home. In a styrofoam bowl with a plastic spoon. I didn't even want to eat it, but they wouldn't let me get out of bed until I'd eaten something. Next time will be in a different hospital, but I'm packing a sandwich.

After our baby was born, while she was being weighed and such I just wanted to go and have a shower so I could put some clothes on, but my midwife wouldn't let me get up because she was scared I would fall down [47 hour labour and a fair bit of blood loss] so she made me a big pile of peanut butter toast. Conveniently my husband ate most of it while she was busy with the baby so I could finally get up and get clean!
Also this video is awesome. And pshaww, two hours? What kind of awesome labour would that be?! Actually, my mom popped me out in under two hours. And I was the first child!

I adored this video. It was pretty beautiful and I am glad that that guy left his stupid hat on the entire time because it was silly. I am glad that he tried it and I think he will have a lot to say about abdominal pain, at least, after this.
My own labour put me in an awful mood but I have thankfully forgotten about it and I want another.
