Can anyone suggest a good blog/recipes/cookbook for cooking WITH young kids?

My friends 5 year old loves cooking. I have done a ton of baking projects w/him but would like to cook meals with him. He is great at following directions and loves all kinds of veggies and fruits.

ETA: We've done pizza, burritos and tacos - which is my entire kid friendly repertoire!

I made sushi with the 4-year old I nanny for and she had a great time.

Check out lettuce knives. They are really great for young kids to use in the kitchen because they are sturdy yet not sharp.

Cook anything they want to cook, or whatever you like to eat. My kids help with any kind of meal and always are more interested in eating new foods if they help cook them! It's so great that you're doing this with your friends kid.

I volunteered a bit with this program. It's part of the meatless monday campaign, so there are a lot of good resources

I used to love cooking out of this when I was a kid (there have since been various updated versions released), but it's not specifically vegan at all: http://www.amazon.com/Junior-Cookbook-B ... r+cookbook

Still, I find myself veganizing its recipes here and there to this day - they had one where you made cornbread, mixed in some frozen corn and cheese, poured it into a pan and topped with smoked cocktail sausages and more cheese...and i totally made a vegan version a few weeks ago! Of course I had to chop up Ibi Bratrollen instead of cocktail sausages because tofurky and field roast won't help me live my dreams.

straberryrock - Sushi is a great idea! He will love that!

Kelly - not sure which one of us has more fun! Usually while we're cooking he's gabbing away about whatever is on his mind - I love it!

annek & ijdi - thank you, I will definitely check those out!

Has anyone seen the Jumbo Vegetarian Cookbook?

I hope Joanna comes back, sees this thread, and is like, "Hey, I should really make that cooking with kids cookbook I always tease Kelly about."

This came across my FB feed yesterday! I won't be released for a month but it's a vegan kid-friendly cookbook: Kidlicious: Healthy Recipes Kids Love

Here's the VegBooks review.

I've looked through that because I'm obsessed with that publisher. It's really cute and probably fine for younger kids!

I just stumbled across the Molly Katzen books. They're vegetarian, not vegan, but they are for kids:

http://www.amazon.com/Salad-People-More ... 1582461414

It looks like she has a few aimed at different age groups. Looking inside Salad People, it looks very vegan-friendly/easily veganizable, though I would definitely say most of the recipes require adult help/supervision for preschoolers.
