I don't know if anyone remembers that we have been trying since March 2008 and today I got a positive on a home test. No blood test yet, that will be tomorrow. I was trying to search for old PPK threads about protein in pregnancy and I cannot find it.

Have you used sites like Sparkle people or whatnot to track your protein, etc. intake?

Also, any UK people, do you rec. DHA supplements that I might be able to find at a store like Holland and Barrett?

oye.

Congratulations and fingers crossed and all that! I never tracked my protein, I just tried to eat soy, beans, or nuts at every meal and most snacks. I'm sure I'm eating more protein than I did pre-pregnancy, but probably not as much as is recommended. I'm choosing not to worry about it. If you can eat seitan, that has the most bang for your buck.

Congrats on the home test! That's really exciting.

I tracked protein with a pen and paper for a while and then stopped when I got to the point where I was regularly doing well with it.

Deva makes a vegan DHA supplement (made out of algae) but I don't know if H&B would have it. I ordered mine off of (US) Amazon.

First off, congratulations on your pregnancy!

I used FitDay.com to track my protein (and other nutrients). I'd been using it before I got pregnant, so I already had a lot of "custom foods" entered in. It was time-consuming to write everything down (or type everything in, as it were), but I liked the peace of mind.

I don't know about DHA in the UK, but I was very happy with the O-Mega-Zen3 Vegan DHA Supplement by NuTru, available from VeganEssentials.com.

Exciting news!

I've been taking Bradley classes and they give you a worksheet to track your protein, so I've been doing that. Before I started the classes, I'd just keep a running tally on the calculator widget on my desktop. In the very beginning I tried using The Daily Plate (which I'd used before I was pregnant), but that was too finicky for me. I also tried to sign up for Sparkpeople, but if you check the box that you're pregnant they shunt you over to some special maternity sister site that I found super preachy and annoying.

I love the V-Pure EPA/DHA. They're based in England, I think, but I have no idea whether you can find it in regular stores.

Thank you!

I am such a bad eater, I forget and then eat a salad or a banana. I really need to do better, I think keeping track will be good for me. I will try fitday.com.

I am so new and I should know this all by now but, do you all eat peanuts or peanut butter while pregnant?

I am reading the vegan resources thread blogs so hopefully that will help me. I'll let you know how the test goes.

I will order some DHA online this evening, thanks!

Throw some seeds on the salad and some nut butter on the banana! I eat both of those things a lot.

Congratulations!

I was using nutrimirror.com to track my food before I got pregnant. I was planning on continuing to use it, but that sort of all went out the window when the exhaustion and nausea kicked in.

And yes, I eat peanut butter on toast everyday.

congrats!

yes, i used sparkpeople to track my nutrients while pregnant, not every day though. i would just do it for a few days to get an idea of how much protein my staples were providing, then i'd lay off. i came up with some mega high protein salads and soups that stayed in my fridge pretty constantly.

you will probably be able to TELL when you're not getting enough protein. i know i could! i'd feel super sluggish and testy, and i'd send the babydaddy to the thai restaurant to get me some curry with fake meats STAT!

Congratulations
I'm a big believer in upping protein intake during pregnancy! I ate tons of nut butters, beans, etc. Usually midwives will have you keep a food diary for a few days, also, to see how your diet looks, and can make some helpful recommendations in that regard. That would be a bit later though :)
