I just wanted to be excited over here. I attended my first birth as a doula the saturday after Thanksgiving. It was amazing! The mama was amazing, her partner was a amzing, and it was attended by my favorite midwife at the birth center. I couldn't have asked for a better first doula-ing.

I also got hired on as an apprentice doula at Get Babied! a doula collective in austin. They are kind of a one stop shop for getting a doula, childbirth related classes, postnatal fitness, pregnancy massage, etc. very exciting.

My plan for a class was also approved and is on their schedule! I will be teaching a class called "trimester one and beyond!" which is everything you need to know pre-pregnancy/early pregnancy about pregnancy and being healthy in pregnancy. I am beyond excited.

I feel like the kid in Almost Famous but IT'S REALLY HAPPENING!

Congratulations!! I've considered a career as a doula as well, it sounds incredibly rewarding. So happy for you!

Good for you!

I'm glad there are people who want to do this.

I think the whole business scares me.

I am so happy to hear such lovely and exciting news! My midwives told me that after their first birth experience, they were hooked. After my homebirth, I completely understood what they meant. I thoroughly enjoyed your zine that you sent to me while I was pregnant. If someone on here would like it and with your blessing, I would be happy to send it along to a good home. You Black Bean Salad recipe is a standard in this house. I serve it with broiled tofu and rice on top of a big, fat salad and it is my favorite meal!

yay!! thanks everybody!!

I am just real excited. The doula collective I work with just signed on to be the (optional) in house doulas for a really great practice in town. Right now this practice has about 50% of patients using doulas and the head doctor is trying to get it to 100%. She is just amazing.

Thanks for the kind words Mel! feel free to pass it along to anybody. I have a whole box of them or if anyone wants an electronic copy let me know. It is a little outdated since it is about 3 years old but a lot of the info is still good.

Seriously!

Congratulations, Megan. Doula-ing does seem extremely fulfilling and exciting. I'm happy for you and all the mamas and papas and babies you're going to be helping!

Austin is a great place to have a baby for the most part!

We have some of the best doctors and some of the worst (by worst I mean most interventions). We have a ton of midwives too. Unfortunately they can only practice in two hospitals. Wo0 Texas!
