I know people have tried this in the past and not gotten a ton of responses, but I thought I'd try again.

So my infertility specialist is putting me on Chlomid next cycle, and I'm kind of overwhelmed by it, in part because fertility treatments aren't covered by our insurance, so I had a $175 15 minute consultation yesterday, and am slated to go for $700 of bloodwork and that is just the tippytop of the iceberg, without even filling all the prescriptions she gave me, the ultrasound, the follow-ups, the insemination etc etc etc. And only 30% of women who have ovulation induced by Chlomid get pregnant, so its not a sure thing...

If you have any hopeful stories to share, I will cling to them like a teddybear

I do not know much about fertility treatments, but have a friend who has been going this route for about a year now. I will ask her if she minds sharing any info, insight, etc... Good luck to you!

Since it's used so often, I'm surprised the stats for Clomid are so low. I have a friend with a 2-year-old who was conceived on clomid, and I'm not sure how many cycles they did, but I don't think it took them too long. Much luck to you!!

when we used to be involved with multiple birth groups i got to know a lot of people who used fertility treatments to get pregnant. a good friend got pregnant with chlomid- she was on for a long time and nothing, took a break, tried again (one last cycle) and got pregnant with triplets. She spent a bucket of money, and it took a lot of time, but she got the babies she wanted. Then, of course, because fate likes a good laugh, she immediately got pregnant after the babies were born and now she has 4 kids.

My SIL used Chlomid. She had a bunch of fertility issues (endometriosis, age, etc) and they had tried forever. She went on Chlomid and got pregnant after 3 mos. Good luck!

my SIL used clomid to super ovulate then did IVF. She got boy/girl twins.

She had a still birth and then couldn't get pregnant for years. Unexplained infertility.

Thanks for the happy thoughts! I appreciate them all, and its good to know people have good outcome, but I had never really realized how expensive all of this is if its not covered by insurance. It looks like each cycle will be at least $2,000 and our plan is to try 3x and then go to IVF ($10,000). It would feel easier to keep on trying if it didn't feel so incredibly expensive. Friends of ours told us they skipped clomid and went right to IVF, to save money.

ETA: Also, on the TMI front, I learned that apparently saliva has a deleterious effect on sperm motility and activity so oral is off the menu if you're trying to get pregnant and you're fertility challenged.

Dr. Fuhrman told me (at an event) that his wife has PCOS and they have three kids, because she managed it with diet....

my sister's insurance covered a single round of clomid- they got pregnant (although it looked like she had her period- then wham, morning sickness hit her and she retested. She has triplets who just turned 5. It worked even better then they expected.

I like that outcome! I mean I think triplets would be more than we could handle, but still.

Clomid has a 10% chance of multiples and it sounds like your sister hit the jackpot!

The parenting forum that I frequent has a lot of women who have used clomid with success. Though they did some interesting things as well; one mom had her husband ejaculate into an instead cup and left it in for 24 hours while she was ovulating.

I am sending you good baby-making vibes. <3

I did one round of Clomid before our move to the UK. It did not work for us, but I was having issues with even getting my period at all. For me the side effects were feeling like you were getting your period but my boobs hurt longer, that's about it.

Good luck!

I know it is not scientific at all, but after 20 months for trying, this past November, I took Angus Cactus for one month and we got pregnant. Again, not scientific, I cannot prove they even helped, it could have just been a fluke. But the pills were cheap.

I believe this statement. When I got pregnant with my last son, who is six months old now, I was on a high raw diet and very physically active (which I believe was a result of on overload of energy from the high raw diet), which made me feel crazy good...and really horny. We weren't trying and we never had any sort of "close calls", but alas here is sweet Maxwell! Watermelon is a serious aphrodisiac! http://www.associatedcontent.com/articl ... tml?cat=68 At least, it was for me. Happy Sexing!
Edited to add that I am no scientist or expert and there is no proof that this is why I got pregnant. Just my 2 cents, which may or may not be worthless (~;
