So there are a bunch of cats that live on my street now, I don't know if they belong to anyone or not. We have a privacy fence around most of the yard but the three beagles see the cats sometimes and freak out barking. The other day I noticed three of the cats lounging on the other side of the fence while my dogs were in such a barking panic that it sounded like the world was coming to an end. So I assume they enjoy taunting my dogs because why else would they hang out there by such loud annoying beagles but I don't know for sure obviously.
Yesterday Dan was sitting outside with Enzo and they saw a cat catch and slaughter a squirrel. Enzo freaked out and Dan took him inside and left for work about a half hour later.
I cam home hours afterwards and found the mutilated squirrel on my front porch right in front of the door. Which I will have nightmares of for the rest of my life.
Dan says the cats were doing us a favor, like a peace offering since you always hear about cats bringing dead animals to their people.
I think it was a move out of spite and they were showing off that they can kill squirrels and the dogs are useless.
What do you think? I know a bunch of you have cats and probably pontificate about what they are thinking like I do with my dogs.

I don't think the cat would leave the squirrel there as an intimidation! It's not a very cat-like thing to do.
Probably they do think the dogs are useless and are trying to show them what they ought to do with squirrels. She thinks your dogs are a bit slow, and clearly need it spelled out to them what they need to do when they see a squirrel.
It's actually quite a "nice" thing for the cat to do (although, totally gross and nasty for us), they don't just share their catches with anyone! Somehow she's decided to take you guys under her wing. That, or she's trying to pay rent.
