Lydia's been admitted to the er with all over rash and fever. She's nursing ok and seems not too lethargic but our ped didn't like how she looked. I don't know anything except that they're running tests. And she's super warm and sweaty and covered in very scary looking head to toe red lumps.
Good thoughts would be much appreciated.

hang in there. there are lots of weird viruses that cause redness and fever. and remember, she's in the best place possible if anything should reach a crisis stage, so try to take one minute at a time. [i know from experience it ain't easy, but you're a tough cookie and a smart advocate for your kid, so you'll be fine.]

ARGH. well, that was unnecessarily terrifying.
saturday, she had a rash, no fever. my best guess was allergic reaction to detergent or a virus. our ped saw us, agreed and told us to give her benadryl and call the next day if a fever developed or the rash didn't respond to benadryl.
sunday morning, she's got a fever, the rash is worse, so i call the sunday clinic that our ped office uses, and sent her dad in with her while i stayed home with Tzipi. i'm putting her down for a nap when i realize i have 17 missed calls from my husband telling me they been sent to er and are about to give her a cath and do some tests. i'm stuck at home with Tzipi and no car, so we schelp on the bus down to the hospital.
get to the er, Lydia is freaking out because she needs to nurse and they've been poking and prodding her. mr. bird leaves to take Tzipi to our friend's house nearby. waiting waiting waiting with her, the dr breezes in and announces, well, it's just a virus, nothing we can do! hydration, rest, tylenol and come back on friday if it's not better.
so yeah, she's fine. well, not fine, but certainly not freak-out worthy. i'm very confused as to why the other ped thought she needed to be seen, since dr. google and our regular ped seemed to think it wad nbd.
later, during cross-examination, it becomes clear that no tests were even run. dave thought that they were going to run them later, i thought they'd already run them.
thanks for the thoughts... i am currently pounding back a beer and trying to get my hands to stop shaking.

Thanks everyone. It was kind of funny. I purposely sent Dave by himself because i get annoyed that I'm the only one that takes the kids to the doctor and deals with health stuff. And now he's traumatized and will probably never take the baby by himself anywhere!

Scary stuff, lb! Glad you're all back home now. I hope the rash clears up quickly. It's so hard to know when to take baby ailments to the next level.
