and so, the indoctrination into princess-dom begins. it's so freaking cute, i left them for a moment to go brush my teeth and came back to find Lydia bedecked and bedazzled. and that darn tiara is Tzipi's most prized possession at the moment, i'm impressed that she wanted to share it. but yeah. my kids are wearing a tiara, a tutu, gemstone stickers and a strawberry shortcake t-shirt. not exactly what i thought was going to happen when i found out i was having daughters.

Sisters! My sister always used to be-deck me as a tiny tot too.
Reminds me a whole lot of my sister-in-law who is the anti-fru-fru. She proclaimed there would be "NO PINK" when she found out she was having a girl and pronounced it again when she had her second girl. Her oldest is the most princess-y princess you will ever meet. Her younger one a little less so, but is Heavily influenced by the older. Poor SIL - it drives her batty.

It is so fun seeing the little personalities develop!

I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to have a princess daughter, but I wouldn't be anti-pink. (Maybe anti-lavender, but only because I don't care for that colour.) Boys can fall for the princess/girly thing, too, though! Beetroot announced he was going to be a princess when he turned 4 and his favourite shoes ever were red girls shoes with white polka dots (he picked them out when we had a shoe emergency and they were the only pair he would even try on). I also bought him a tiny pink Hello Kitty dollhouse from a charity shop because he and Raygold were having SO much fun playing with it (and it was only £1.25). (They also want to learn how to knit and crochet and love to watch me sew, although they're not interested in learning to cook just yet (alas!).)

Silas started soccer! He's a head shorter and a year younger than all the other kids, but he makes up for it in sheer enthusiasm. First challenge is getting him to stop giggling while he's running.

Saturday was Shae's 14th birthday. We had races on the beach in the rain and went to Wonder Works (upside down house, hands on science museum place), then had family over for cake. Here he is being chased by Silas.

And a bonus of my niece Chloe, because, well look at her.

Oh 2wks ago he was so not ready for that yet. This is our first try... I wouldn't start before 4 months old in an exersaucer anyway.
