My SIL had a 5 lb baby, followed by a 4 lb baby. Her last baby was almost 8 lbs and she couldn't stop talking about how HUGE and CHUBBY he was - and so I was very confused when I saw a photo of a normal, skinny, newborn ;) I guess it is all in perspective! I do kind of remember lamenting a little that it never felt like my baby was a newborn newborn. He was too big to wear his newborn going home outfit (they gave us a 3 month shirt for him to wear) and after 3 days we couldn't close the newborn pampers around him. The newborn going home outfit was the ONLY new outfit I had purchased for him - it was a ridiculously expensive romper from Gymboree with a rhino on the front and a little rhino tail on the back. We totally couldn't get it over his giant head.

Livi's photos are great! So exciting to see their interests and skills grow!

We had Giles' little party today - he had his first sweet today - I think he liked it.

Livi looks very futuristic/sci-fi in her dentist's outift. :p

On the big babies thing, I'm glad to read that y'all have had some second babies that were smaller than the first. My midwife with Freya joked that I should go for an even 11 lbs. next time. Oh my god.

I think generally second babies come a little earlier than firsts, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were a little smaller as well. I was about 2-3 weeks earlier and a pound smaller than my older sister!

everywhere i go people exclaim how teeny BabyPunk is. she's almost three months old and probably the size of a "regular" newborn now.

but to me she looks totally normal and i dont even no what a "regular" baby looks like. people seem to have a general idea of size and age in their mind. i guess i dont have that.

everytime i see my friends babies around the same age they look GINORMOUS

I once ran into a woman (smoking outside of a hotel room, but I wasn't judging until she started asking me for pediatric advice!) who asked me whether I thought her baby was small. Apparently the girl was 9mo old but was the size V was at about 3mo, and I was just, "uh, maybe you should talk to your pediatrician about that. She's so cute!" and ran away as fast as I could.

It was BAFFLING.

Mine was the opposite. Sam was born (induced) at 41wks 3days and weighed 8lbs2oz... Eli was born at 41wks and weighed 8lbs 11oz... 3 days earlier, 8oz heavier :p (Induced also after 3 days of horror... I dunno how big he woulda bean had I gone up to 42wks)

no but she manages to usually make music that sounds pretty good, and she usually makes up lyrics. i'm going to look into kid lessons and a kid sized guitar for her.

yes, this. [well, the opposite of this.] Westiebaby was 9lb1oz born, and was bigger at three months than I was at six months, and I have often had people commenting on how much of a big girl she is, but she's the first newborn I've had anything to do with, so to me, she was just 'baby sized'.

I do imagine I would freak a little if I had a BabyPunk-sized second child though, because I thought westiebaby was tiny and wee when she was born...

My older brother was 9lb [at 42 weeks] and I was 7lb14oz [at 38 weeks] and my mum has said I seemed super small [especially as that 9lb baby was by then a stomping toddler]

Also HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Giles and happy birthing-anniversary to you, Annasrobbie! He's just gorgeous and so happy, and I love that you can really recognise him right from his freshly-born photos!

And Livi! So big!! Love the guitar picture. Does she still dance, too?

Love Freya driving the bus - when did she get so old?!
Magician with watering cans, best!
Violet has pretty stylish pyjamas, perfect for cycling the streets!
Aww, Kimba, Carlos is such a little boy now, so grown up looking!
BabyPunk passed out asleep on her dad just melts me, too cute!
And Vax! Oh man, Crabby, that boy looks like he's got a good set of lungs haha. [still cute, though!!]

haha, love! Check out the concentration on his face, way to go Eli, rocking this standing up thing!

This should totally be its own thread - your baby now vs your baby as a newborn! [or maybe it already is?]

My kids are like friggin' spiders the way they can climb on things -- especially Beet. I've walked into the room and found him on the mantlepiece! Raygold isn't as successful and falls more -- it's kind of amazing the things kids can do to themselves and then just get up and walk away like everything is fine.

Does the climbing stage ever stop? I remember wondering why my mom would get so horrified when she'd see me way high up in a tree (like, she'd look out a second floor window and I'd be on a branch right there) and why she was so worried when I jumped out of an apple tree, got my trousers caught on a fence and landed upsidedown on my face. "Mom, why are you so upset? Also, can you get my pantleg off the fence? I'm stuck!"

Now I know why she got so worried. Same thing with running across the street. Beet is always trying to do that and it is a nightmare.
