It's been a while since I posted pics of the twins. Here is one from yesterday at the beach. It was such a beautiful day here!

And my mom got them some cute mini Bobas.

I plan to keep Eli's hair long, as long as it doesn't start going knotty like Sam's.

Beety's hair (a bob, usually -- he doesn't really care what hairstyle he has) only ever got a few tangles and one weir, tiny dreadlock, but Raygold's hair (long and girly, with side-angled bangs -- he specifically asks to have this) was really tangly at one point. I had to make him let me wash and condition his hair and comb out the tangles last week. It's been fine so far, but it was really bad for a while, one day in particular, it got all crazy under a hat on the bus:

People often ask why don't cut his hair, but he wants long hair and it is really lovely.

Ha! I love it!

E got a haircut at Christmastime, and a big part of it was that he doesn't like to have it brushed at all and it develops quite a serious rats nest in the back. He's been growing it out again and seems to be getting better about having it brushed, so we'll have to see.

I love long crazy little kid hair, especially for boys. Both my kids have such beautiful hair, and I feel like they have the rest of their lives to have boring short man cuts if that's what they want.

Yikes! Giles is just finally getting a full head of hair in and I hadn't given too much though about short or long...but I am a little scared of that kind of tangle Crabby!!! His Daddy has long hair so I suspect he will want his long too...I guess I need to invest in lots of conditioner!

Oh man, yeah, the rats nest... Sam's is killer! He won't let me touch it... so when it gets too gross to even wash out, we cut.

Oh, hair problems! My kid has always hated having his hair washed. Once when I did it he was so upset he refused to bathe at all for over a month. And now he says he wants it long. He's three, would he understand the deal that if he wants it long he has to let me wash it?

I think chompy really just has to get his hair cut soon, though. He doesn't like washing it or brushing it or dealing with it or keeping food out of it. Gross. Also, we're seeing Nana in a month, and I would rather avoid any drama.

I don't know. Is that just capitulating? I always had long hair growing up (not as long as chompy's), and it was an endless source of conflict. So silly.

Bahaha! Her face! I sort of hope she is unimpressed forever and some day in the future you can do a timeline of her through the years: unimpressed first day of school, unimpressed at sporting events, unimpressed senior portrait, etc.

My Mum gave me an ultimatum when I was about 7 that if I wanted to keep growing my hair/having long hair, then I needed to look after it (ie. brush it myself every day, etc). I think I was particularly bad at having my hair brushed and used to complain a lot about it. She and my Dad would still help me tie it back and stuff (he grew up around horses and did the best plaits ever), but if I couldn't cope with brushing it then I had to get it chopped off.
I don't know that that's necessarily a good tactic, but it worked for me?

When I asked to grow my hair long my mum said we had to be able to get a comb through it twice a day. There is a big difference between making an agreement before you start growing and saying 'Do this or we'll cut your hair off' when it's already long, though.
Does Chompy ask you to brush his hair? Does he moan about it annoyingly? Or do you just not like having to look at his gross, unbrushed, unwashed hair?
