Oh, tank. I'm really sorry. You're in my thoughts.
I had a doctor's appointment today and had her check me because I was pretty curious. I'm maybe 1 cm dilated, but not really effaced at all (fine by me!). I guess she was able to touch the baby's head when she was in there. It's crazy to think that someone has touched my baby!
And thanks mitten and isybb for the reminders about resting. I really am trying to balance unpacking/getting ready with a decent amount of down time. I slept for 12 hours last night! Who knows when I'll do that again?

Have I mentioned that we are five days away from my due date and still can't agree on any names? I might murder my husband. Or at least play the I'm-giving-birth-to-this-kid-so-I-get-to-name-it card. Ugh! I really thought we would have an easier time with this.

I had my 20 week ultrasound today and everything looked great!
He was kicking his legs and swinging his arms all over the place and was even playing with his feet at one time. I nearly died it was so cute.
Today was also the first day I felt one of his kicks from the outside. He kicked my hand! EEEEEE!

thanks for the support everybody. right now I sort of feel at peace with the fact that I actually know what is going on with my pregnancy after being in limbo for 6ish weeks. Of course I am upset about the outcome but at least I am not agonising everyday on whether or not I am going to have a m/c or not, whether the ultrasound tec really had no idea what was going on or if she just couldn't tell me. I talked to my midwife today and she was really nice and told me that she thinks everything went well and I shouldn't have to have a d&c (I had a natural m/c at home.)
next time I am definatly not going to have an u/s at 5 weeks. I am just going to go to the midwife at 12 weeks.

Hi all! I don't post that often around here, but I have been lurking around all the baby threads lately. After two years of trying to conceive and one miscarriage this past February, I am now knocked up- almost 29 weeks now. Overall things are going well, though I did score a bit high on my 1 hour glucose test last week. Now I have to take the 3 hour glucose test to check for gestational diabetes. I'm an older momma, age 36. The husband and I are excited to meet our boy in March.

Thoughts are with you Tank.
For those of you who did miscarry and try again, you all waited how long to see a doctor or widwife? I am trying again and initially had wanted an earlier ultrasound (was 12 weeks when I went for one only to find out the fetus never progressed past 7 weeks) but from the sounds of it it is better to wait??
Is that just so you don't get your hopes up again? I just feel like I would rather know that I am going to m/c again sooner than later...thinking you are still pregnant for 5 weeks and then finding out you are not really f*cked with me last time.

We waited three months before trying again, and I got pregnant the first month back at it. I went to the doctor very early (5 weeks, I think it was) so they could monitor every step. My miscarriage happened at about 8 weeks. I really appreciated the care they took to give me weekly ultrasounds at first, just to make sure everything was okay. Once we got past the first trimester, then I went back to normal appointment schedules. I was so worried, I thought about miscarrying constantly at first. The checkups helped to ease my mind. Also, let me just say that since my miscarriage, I have talked to quite a few women who conceived successfully (and quickly) after having one, too. It's almost like it jumpstarted my system or something, because we tried for a long time before it happened, then *bam*. Stay positive, it can happen!

Is that just so you don't get your hopes up again? I just feel like I would rather know that I am going to m/c again sooner than later...thinking you are still pregnant for 5 weeks and then finding out you are not really f*cked with me last time. I called the doctor as soon as I found out; my OB does what they call an intake appointment initially where they do bloodwork and a urine sample, and just check in with you. Then I think my doctor typically first sees you at about 8 weeks, but I don't think they do an ultrasound. I agree with you about wanting the early ultrasound, but I don't know if my doctor would have given me one (I don't know when they normally do the first one). I ended up having two this time, one because I went to the ER and the second to make sure it was still going okay because the date was off on the first. With a miscarriage in your history, your doctor may be more likely to have you do an early ultrasound anyway.

the only reason the early u/s was bad for me is because I had a tilted uterus and they couldn't tell if i had a blighted ovum or if they just couldn't see the baby. They also said it takes longer sometimes to hear the heartbeat. When I did the interview with the midwife she told me at 11 weeks they could try a doppler but there was a good chance they wouldn't find it till 12 weeks or later which is why I didn't know if my pregnancy was still viable for so long. Good luck to you momo. We are going to be trying again right away because we got the ok from the midwife and a lot of people are super fertile after a m/c.
