Jeesh, I go on vacation and there are all of the sudden tons of new pregnancies :-) Congratulations tank, mandycoot, and brassicajane!

I'm in my third trimester now! I feel huge. My belly is way bigger now than it was at this point with Ada.

Hello all,

Baby Dancer (aka Vivian) was born on Tuesday, March 12th. Quite unexpectedly with a dramatic finish. I went to my regular OB appointment and my blood pressure was pretty high and I was 3 cm dilated. My doctor sent me to the hospital wing to get blood work for pre-eclampsia. The blood work came back ok, but my pressure was still high. Before I left the doctor check my cervix again and I was 4 cm dilated. She said if she sent me home I would just be calling in the middle of the night. So she decided to break my water to augment labor. 12 hours later I was ready to push. With every push the babies heart rate went down. It came back up between contractions but the doctor was concerned and didn't want it to go on too long. After a couple of pushes her heart rate wasn't coming back up between contractions. That's when they rushed me to the OR for an emergency c-section. A few minutes later she was out.

Vivian's blood sugar was low so she spent time in the NICU on an IV and formula to raise it. Eventually her sugar stayed at a good level without the IV and she was release from the NICU in time to be discharged with me.

We are both home now and learning the ropes. It's challenging to say the least. My biggest issue is to understand that breastfeeding is a learning process for both of us, more so for her since she is used to formula now, and that it's ok as long as she is healthy and eating and pooping. My husband has been wonderful and supportive and my mom has been by almost everyday to help so I can rest and heal from surgery.

Congratulations, Biodancer!

So, I'm pregnant again. I'll be 8 weeks tomorrow, by my calculations. Due the end of October. I'm mildly annoyed because I can't get in to my OB until April 17th. I've known for almost a month and waiting another month to hear the heartbeat and feel all official seems like forevvvvverrrrr. Oh, well.

But! The funniest thing happened today. We were planning on waiting until Easter to tell our families. My mom stayed over at my house last night because I needed her to watch Inez while I went to an appointment this morning. Anyways, Inez and I were playing outside this morning and when we came in my mom asked me point blank if I was pregnant. I was like "why?" and racking my brain trying to think if I had left anything incriminating out. I guess she had a dream last night that I was pregnant and felt like it was real. So funny. I didn't see any point in lying to her face, so the cat's out of the bag.

congrats on your new baby Biodancer! sounds like you had a scary start. glad everything is much smoother now and you are getting the help you need while you recover!! hope the wee one is doing well and you are healing up nicely!

Looks like I might be next up. Due April 19th, so only a few weeks to go.

I have spring break this week so I am using it get all my prepping done. Along with quite a bit of relaxing mixed in as well. My plan is to have all the essential things ready enough for baby by the end of the week.

The only snag to my planning is I turned out to be group b strep positive. I'm a little bummed because I wanted to labor at home for as long as possible, but my midwife has reassured me that it shouldn't affect things too greatly. She said the only change in plan is that if my water breaks, I do need to call them right away and probably head to the hospital to get the antibiotics, but hopefully not need any other interventions. She said they'll disconnect the IV after the antibiotics, and let me move around and use the tub as much as I want to. If I had been GBS-, I would have been told to wait up to 18 hours after water breaking because they aren't as concerned with the infection risks as most OBs are.

woo-hoo chiveggie! so close! i couldnt remember if you were 2 weeks ahead of me or behind me. looks like 2 weeks ahead of me!
i think sashi might be somewhere close to us too but i cant remember.

that sucks about GBS+ i have my test soon, not sure when but they said soon and ive got my fingers crossed i am negative because i dont want an IV either. i want to be able to move around as much as possible.

sounds like your midwife has got your back though so that is good :-)
TWO WEEKS!!

my best friend just had her baby yesterday! it was a girl just like i told her it was gonna be ;-)
