Hey! So I haven't been on here for a while and don't really know anyone on here!
I'm Charis, I'm 22 and I'm 14 weeks pregnant.
The majority of the time so far I've been feeling sooooo ill :( I have CFS/ME so I think I've been getting the usual preggo symptoms worse as a result of the exhaustion on my body. Any advice for help on any of these symptoms would be awesome!
-acid reflux/heartburn (I've tried Tums, Apple cider vinegar, heartburn tea etc.)
-nausea
-congestion/blocked nose
-pelvic aching
I think those are the worst symptoms so far. The nausea and the acid are the worst though. Anything you can suggest I will try!
As far as vegan pregnancy goes, everything seems to be fine so far! My bloods are all fine and my 12 week scan was all great. I've been feeling the baby kicking every day for about a week now too! It's nice! :)
Anywho, that's me!
Charis x

Hi Floralfrosting! Congratulations and welcome. I got a big tub of papaya extract pills (obVeg: I recall not 100% sure they were vegan because of some vagueness about supplement ingredients, but they were the vegan-est ones I could find). They were helpful with the heartburn but nothing solved it except giving birth, sadly!

Thanks for all the well-wishes. We're very happy and excited on both counts even though the combination is a little terrifying! I've been googling like crazy to figure out what our life might be like but I do have to share one thing with you.

Would you send your kid to this preschool?

Congrats annak and Floralfrosting! How exciting! Annak, I can't imagine making such a big move at the same time! But that preschool sure looks like pure gold.

I'm 36 weeks now (need a picture, I haven't taken a belly shot since 20w or so!). Incredibly, I feel pretty great, which was not the case at this point with my first pregnancy. I'm nesting like crazy and finishing all sorts of home improvement stuff that I'd been slacking on and also freezing tons of food. It's kind of bittersweet to be entering into the last weeks of our family's time as a threesome.

This. So much. I'm excited but I'm also a little blue. Feelings!

Congrats and welcome, Floralfrosting! A lot of people find their nausea tapers off in the second trimester - I hope that happens for you! As far as the heartburn goes, maybe see about getting a prescription from your doctor? I had way worse heartburn/reflux this time around than with my first and nothing's really helped much.

Well, my mom's flight lands in an hour and I didn't have a baby yet. Success! I'm so relieved she's back.

My midwives said any over the counter heartburn med was safe, so I took pepcid for it, worked way better than tums!

i had horrifyingly awful reflux for my entire pregnancy to the point where i couldnt eat anything
like Ariann said the over the counter stuff is fine. first i took prilosec. it says on the box if you need it for more than 2 weeks to contact your physician but my OB said it was totally fine to take it for the entire pregnancy.
but the prilosec didnt cut it so i took xantac which is twice a day.

i probably should have taken something prescription but i never did. the xantac (zantac?) worked better than the prilosec for me.

my husband read somewhere online that drinking water supposedly helps with acid reflux so i did that. i will say it went down alot easier than cold water and didnt make me feel ill but i cant say it cured my acid reflux.

unfortunately i think mainly the passage of time is what works. for most people it goes away for awhile but may come back in the third trimester.
the second you give birth it goes away so theres that.

some people say sleeping with your head elevated helps

I slept sitting up for about the last 3 weeks of my pregnancy with M... Someone suggested to me that my reflux might be less bad if I never went horizontal, and it actually did make it somewhat less bad (when combined with a steady stream of prilosec and as needed tums) so I just went with it.

Hang in there, I hope you're feeling better soon!

try taking hot water, and refrain from fishy smell, anything that may further worsen the nausea, i'm surprised you feel the bb kicking at such early stage..
mine only more significant at 5 mos..

Two pieces of information (and please to those of you who know me IRL no mention of either on facebook yet!):

- Euclid the Embryo has been advanced into the pipeline and should make an appearance sometime around June 9.

- My husband has very tentative verbal orders to a job in Italy, which would put our move right before that. (There may be some flexibility there since his replacement gets here much earlier, but it's still so early we don't want to make a big deal of it yet and there's time to figure it out because dream job!)

*fingers crossed* Great to hear the news! Congrats:D

Will was sick overnight on Sunday.. Now I was sick overnight last night. I had double trouble, Will was luckier and it only came up. I haven't been sick anymore today, but have made multiple trips to the bathroom. Ate a little, kept liquids down. At what point do I worry or call the midwife?
