So my co-workers surprised me today with a little baby shower - lots of cute onesies, hooded towels, socks, diapers, etc - even some presents for mama with some vegan chocolate and bath goodies. :) Just so sweet of them.

That's really lovely, especially since they found you things you could actually use and enjoy

I think Chalupa Batman had enough. Looks like I'm in the hospital until I deliver. The high risk doctor is meeting me tomorrow, so I'll know more then, like whether this will happen very soon or if there's a chance they can keep me stable for 3 more weeks. I've been told that 34 weeks is the max that they will let me go. The problem is that yesterday morning I had 7 cm of fluid. This afternoon I had 5 and then a few hours later, I had 3 cm. I've been told that I can't get an ultrasound until Monday since they're not done on Sundays.

I'm hooked up to a million machines and haven't been able to get any sleep.

I hope you're doing alright!

Does this mean your waters have broken?

If so, you're in the best place. Doctors might scare you on chances of getting infection and such, just make sure you drink lots of water and avoid internal examinations since this increases chances of infection. If it is your waters, this is called prom (premature rupture of membranes). They typically let women go until 36 weeks in this condition, some hospitals do 34 weeks. Whatever happens, listen to your gut, doctors have opinions just like everyone else does and don't hold absolute truths. I had Pre-prom with my daughter (pre-term premature rupture of membranes), my waters broke at 21w and I went onto 31w, my daughter is a happy and healthy 6y0 girl now. I support women on a daily basis who go through prom or pprom, it's incredibly common, but not very well known in hospitals and by doctors. If I'm totally off topic just ignore this paragraph ;).

Good luck!

Thank you, guys! I have good news. While I was told originally that I would most likely be there until I delivered, I got sent home! Still pregnant! Chalupa better not try to escape again. I hope my fluid doesn't go back down again. It's still low, but nit as low. The early labor hospital procedure really sucks and I don't want to ever repeat it again!

So glad you get to go home! Do they have any idea why the fluid went so low?

I am not loving this part of pregnancy. I have terrible heartburn most of the day. I am exhausted and feel like I have very little energy, but wake up several times a night. I feel like my mobility is getting limited from just how draining it is to walk places, but our car won't arrive for another week. Feet are usually at least somewhat swollen, I have random aches, pains, and discomforts.

And I have, by all accounts, a totally low risk, normal, easy pregnancy! I keep thinking about what it's like to be one of the many people who have it worse than I do at this point. I feel like I should really be making an effort to enjoy being pregnant and all since it's probably the last time I will be, but I miss feeling…like me.

Great news Bastah and Annak too. I know especially the end of pregnancy is not easy. It will be over before you know it. Just make yourself as comfortable as possible and keep your feet up when you can.

Bastah drink plenty of water. Fluid will drop when you're dehydrated, even a little bit.

I know what you mean Annak! I am trying to enjoy these last few weeks since we plan this for being our last baby, but it is so hard when you are tired and in pain and can't get any sleep and have a toddler needing so much attention! I want this baby to stay in until his due date (because my parents arrive to watch son then) but if it weren't for that I would be wishing every day for labor to start! Out of the blue I have 2 hemmorrhoids and I am scared what they will do during delivery...

I keep telling myself the opposite. I have a high risk pregnancy, but everything is fine. And so many of my friends are having unexpected things with low risk pregnancies (a friend with the same due date as me ended up delivering at 25 weeks). So I need to relax. But I keep obsessing over my super long to do list.

I was so ready for baby, but not necessarily ready to be done with pregnancy... So enjoy it as much as you can! Life with two has been more pleasant than I expected! And for me, labor and delivery was the cure for hemmohroids?!

Hey peeps:
My thoughts are with you all. Sorry I don't post more. Life is so busy for me, my time on teh interwebz is extremely limited.

Anyway, yeah--the end of pregnancy is hard. Some people really rock pregnancy while others struggle. For me it was awful, but the experience brought me closer to my own body because I developed a better respect for it via biology. It's funny, I body shamed forever, but that changed post baby. Or maybe it happened post 30.

Blasto is having a really hard time. In the past few months his meltdowns have become more intense and now involves property destruction and being physically violent with others. We're doing all of the environmentally right things, but he's emotionally struggling. He told me, "Mom, I can't stop when I'm mad. I see red." which is awfully articulate for a 6 year old. We are in the process of having him evaluated. The first thing I do of course, is blame myself because I think he's inherited my mental illness. Then I take it back because I am not a professional, I don't know what's going on, and my son is not his disposition, he's my son.

And because Fini loves him and does everything he does, we're having some minor issues with her.

Anyways, enough blabbing. Please keep him in your thoughts.

Oh yikes Jewbacca! Sorry Blasto's having difficulties. It sounds like you're getting him the help he needs, though. Good luck moving forward!

38 weeks on the nose. I requested that next week be my last week at work - I am just feeling large and tired and now that we have been assigned Saturday overtime hours as well, I am just over it.
Had an uneventful midwife appointment yesterday - GBS swab negative (hooray) and she said baby is still head down and posterior and recommended lots of walking and pelvic tilts to try to get him to turn and said that my plan of spending labor laying in the jacuzzi tub was not ideal because with a posterior baby you need to be UP UP UP :( I haven't really been practicing my hypnobabies in an upright/active way so that kind of worries me a little). Anway I guess baby could come at ANY time but I am not holding my breath as it could be another 4 weeks!

Starting today, I'm having weekly fetal monitoring, and I found out that I'm having lots of Braxton Hicks that I wasn't noticing. Now that I recognize them, it's really distracting. Baby is estimated 5 lbs 3 oz, which is big (80th percentile) but not to a worrying extent.

Saw a specialist today who says the tests were wrong and my water did break last Saturday. Ugh. Hoping I can make it to 34 weeks.

So do they have you on bedrest Bastah? I know very little about PPROM - how many weeks are you now? Are they able to give the baby steroids to help with lung development.

No, I was told that bedrest doesn't actually help. I'm supposed to walk around enough so that I don't get clots. I'm 31 weeks and 5 days right now. I got steroids last Saturday and Sunday. They might give them again though since the baby might come out further from the date when I got them. I hope they won't have to give me magnesium again, because that was the WORST. I also wish that they had finished my antibiotic regimen before sending me home, because I don't want to repeat the IV part again. UGH. So I dunno what's going to happen when I get back to the hospital. I'm trying to enjoy my freedom right now before admitting myself tomorrow. Shortbus is picking up a yummy dinner for us.

That is really bizarre that they didn't catch that your water broke before (also, how were they explaining how you suddenly had no fluid?). My understanding was that those strips they use were so sensitive they'd pick up even a drop or two of amniotic fluid. Hope you're keeping as calm as possible, sending lots of good thoughts from over here.

I had two of those PLUS dye injected into my uterus (a specialist did this). He said all three tests weren't accurate because of my circumstances (like with the dye one, he said I should have been injected with half a liter instead of a couple teaspoons). I don't know who to trust or what to do. I don't know if they would even inject someone with that much fluid and if that's even needed, and is that what would need to happen in order to not deliver at 34 weeks, by proving my water didn't break? What if I'm getting induced and have no reason to be? Do I really NEED to be hospitalized? I'm so frustrated and I feel soooo lost. If my water didn't break and if I don't have a leak, I have no idea where my fluid went. There are other causes. He didn't tell me the results of the ultrasound but he described me as having "no fluid." I did see a "1.5 cm" measurement though and that might be it or is just the deepest pocket.
