Yay for siblings! Henry's new thing is climbing up onto the couch, which means there are pretty much no more places in the living room for baby unfriendly things. He also got his first haircut this weekend, and he looks super handsome!

Z just got two more teeth (at the same time!) last week. He has his bottom two middle teeth, and now not the two front teeth on top, but the ones next to the middle ones. Opposite of what he has on the bottom. So exciting!

We have Leela excited to brush her teeth, because we let her help brush the dog's teeth before she does hers. Its so funny.

We signed Ada up for preschool in the fall! She'll be going two days a week for 2.5 hours. I'm already getting emotional about leaving her but it will give me some alone time with the new baby. For the two year olds they use the first three weeks to ease them in. Parents don't leave them alone until everyone is ready, even if it takes the full three weeks (and even house visits from the teachers if needed). But still, my baby!

aww Sashi, it seems impossibly grown-up doesn't it? I think the time/frequency sounds just right, and I'm sure she will love it (eventually if not immediately!) Having just started something similar, I'll say that it is super-nice to just have some time with the baby - in my case, it's just been gazing at each other and snuggling - without Big Sister butting in too. I love my Dahlia, but man 3yr olds love your undivided attention!

Oooh, that will be so nice for you to have one on one time with the new little one. Now that I've got two, my older one goes to daycare once a week, and I get to have a bit of sweet baby cuddle time. It's lovely.
Speaking of sweet baby, he has started initiating games of peekaboo. Like any time he has a blanket with him. He pulls it up in front of his face and then drops it, and then he gets the biggest baby grin!

there is like, a social explosion goin on over here! Possibly initiated by the past 6 weeks of going to "shkool" and possibly just because she's less than 2 months away from being 4. But in any case she is hugging kids at school and randomly going up and talking to people too - yesterday she saw our downstairs neighbor who she loves but is very shy with and just stood there chatting with him while papa put Sierra in the car, AND there was a little girl at the park she was kinda playing with and when the mom came over she just started chatting to her despite the fact that we're pretty sure the woman only spoke Polish. H was in somewhat hearing distance and said she was telling the lady about Sierra and how Sierra sleeps in our room...wha?? Very funny. Anyway this all coming from a kid who was very selective about who she spoke to, it's quite fun too.

Walked up to the potty. Pooped in it. Walked away.
We were thrilled. Come on potty training!

The Magician said his first sentence! What was it, you ask? "MORE DIRT."

Henry doesn't have words, he's been saying "mama" on repeat, but hasn't connected me being Mama with the word. He has been adding to his sign repertoire though, just now in his classroom he signed shoes and flower just hearing the words, not seeing the signs.

He has been adding to his sign repertoire though, just now in his classroom he signed shoes and flower just hearing the words, not seeing the signs. M really only uses maybe 6 words regularly (hi!, there!, dirt, kitty, ball, Daddy in roughly that order of frequency). He seems to understand most of what we say, but I have no idea how many words he actually knows how to say. He'll pull words out and use them like twice in the right context and I'll get all excited and then he'll never say that word again. It's such a strange contrast to the Emperor, who talked a ton pretty early. I was looking back at my notes from the time, and at 15 months (a couple more weeks for M), E had a few dozen words that he used regularly. Unless M has a REALLY big verbal explosion in the next few weeks, he's not going to catch up for a while yet. Maybe he just can't get a word in edge wise with all the talking his brother does... Also, Henry knows a sign I don't! I can't remember flower!

Also, Henry knows a sign I don't! I can't remember flower! Does the Emperor speak on behalf of the Magician? My little sister (27 months younger) was a LOT slower in verbal development than I was, but I spoke for her a lot: "Mummy, Karin wants _____." I guess since she was getting what she needed she didn't have to figure out how to ask. (I don't know how I thought I knew what she wanted... I was probably just asking for whatever I wanted and thought I was being sneaky.)

Giles has officially begun crawling on hands and knees. He has been getting around by rolling, army crawling, and this sort of lunge/gorilla walk thing but he never got very far. Now all of a sudden he is traipsing from room to room and following me like a puppy. It is stinkin' cute. I actually captured a little movie of the first crawling too!

Ohhhh, so exciting! It's so cute when they start to follow you around! I can't believe you caught a movie of it. That's awesome. (By the way, I can't remember if I said before, but I just love his name!)
