okay peeps- god spoke to me and told me if i coordinated this, y'all would come.

well not really, we all know about people hearing voices. I DO think this needs to happen. for all of our sakes!

1) where are you located?
2) are you cool with tent camping in a state park, or are you more of a hotel person?
3) what is the best time during the summer for you to do this?
4) do you want a weekend sort of thingy?
5) how do you feel about watching a bunch of other people's kids? i was thinking pairing up sets of families
6) how long of a break would you like?

my vision--get a few of us fams together for some r&r. nothing fancy. btown is great during the summer: the students are gone, there are parks galore, and it's pretty vegan friendly and inexpensive. closest major airport is in indianapolis.

'nuff talking. let's do this. as things develop--we could move it to the square, although i'd like to keep it here just in case there's a newbie parent that wants to get in on nap action.

Awww, I'd love to do something like this, but with Zola's sensory issues and anxiety around people she doesn't know, I could see it all going to hell in a handbasket very quickly. Maybe if it were camping, she might do a little better. It'd probably have to be in California, too.

I thought this was a thread about a meetup in Napa. At first I was super bummed that being due in the summer means no long distance travel for us this summer / no drinking for me anyway, because let me tell you i LOVE NAPA.

Don't let me rain on your parade! If there's people interested in doing it in IN, by all means go for it!

So where would this be centered? What is btown?

Yes! I need to figure out how far a drive this would be.

I'm in iowa, and i would be interested it would be about a full day's travel for me- we are in western iowa. my husband works like a mad man during the summer, but he is hoping to hire an intern, so we might have a hope of coming together, if not, perhaps i would think ab doing it- camping, i am down with that. and it probably wouldn't be convenient for just about anyone, but the conservancy my husband works for has a b and b, rental properties and camp grounds. its a nice, if remote place, but the area isn't vegan friendly- mostly they just don't have any idea what vegan is.

you're onto something, jildez. perhaps more centrally located so it wouldn't be too far of a drive for some, and close enough to an airport where the out-of-towners could fly in.

hapax--btown=bloomington, about 1.5 hours north of you! amanda melanie, you'd definitely be flying in or take transport by floo powder.

We're in California too. (But a different part, I think!) I would loooove to do something like this and don't mind traveling but (fingers crossed) my work situation is about to change and I need to get that sorted before I make any summer plans.

Oh dude, that's right next to Brown County! I've been there, but not since before I became vegan.

A California get together would be great! We're near Fresno, but we visit Santa Cruz every once in awhile. The kids had a blast at Logo Books, going up and down the stairs and the "alligator" (elevator).

it sounds like a midwest meetup would be doable, as well as a cali one. bloomington- i could do- unfortunately the conservncy isn't close to anything- its 2 hrs from omaha and an hr and a half from des moines- both expensive to fly into.

We live near Seattle, but Inez and I will probably be accompanying my husband on a work trip to the Bay Area in August. So I could potentially do a California meetup, if the stars aligned. At the very least, I'd be up for going to Santa Cruz and meeting internet sensation Emperor Babykins in person!

Ha... I love it. He's an Internet sensation! Like the elderly lady who can sing!

I would be delighted to see people in Santa Cruz, and not just because I wouldn't have to travel anywhere!

My in-laws are in Bakersfield (yuck). We have no plans to go there this summer, but when we eventually do, maybe we could meet some of you Cali Moms and babies. In the meantime, Flava and I are here in Maine!

Fantastic! I'm not sure what your route will be, but I'm in Bangor and Flava is about an hour south of me. PM me (us) when you know your plans and we'll set this up!

I don't live even remotely close to any PPK mamas. Sadface.

I was totes going to say I was close to you, but apparently it's 6 hours from here. Maybe we could do a Nashville meetup sometime?

I volunteer my back deck for a cookout/baby party. Any and all ppkers and their kids and dogs are invited.

Is it crazy that I've never been to an entirely vegan backyard cookout before? This makes me very excited.
