i kinda figured they were strict so thank for the feedback.

ill have to take that cost into consideration when planning this trip. ugh

i also remembered today we'll have to rent a carseat so that's another expense. do people fly with their non infant car seats? ive seen infant carseats being checked but i dont know if ive ever seen a bigger one checked. although the last time i flew carseats were the farthest thing from my mind

We've checked a toddler carseat before. The last time we flew we checked the infant seat and then rented the toddler seat because we didn't want to drag both carseats around.

We've had the same car seat since birth, a convertible type. We have a wheel thing that attaches to it for rolling around the airport, then we check it at the gate. Scarlett likes riding around on it in the airport, so it's convenient!

What's the deal with peanuts during pregnancy? I've heard that it is ok and dangerous to eat them. (Something about them causing allergies if you eat them during pregnancy.) I had peanut butter occasionally during my first pregnancy (no peanut allergies) I know that should make me feel okay, but I still get paranoid. And I'm craving pumpkin pie Lara Bars.

Thank goodness. There are no peanut allergies in my or my sweetheart's families and my favorite protein bar has peanuts in it, so...yeah. Hadn't really occurred to me.

Probably better to eat some than none. I do have a friend who had hyperemesis her entire pregnancy and ate nothing but pb&j three times a day every day, and her daughter has one of those peanut allergies that requires an epipen if someone eats peanuts and then touches her. An interesting story, but this will not happen to you!

Fwiw, a vegan friend of mine pretty much subsisted on PB&J her entire pregnancy and her daughter is awesome and has no allergies.

Now I want peanut butter.

I'd never heard that either! All I ate during pregnancy was peanut butter.

My due date "window" starts tomorrow! I'm excited to meet my Little Nettle but I also want to wait, say, a week! I haven't read all the things, &c! That's got to be normal, though, right? Anyone else felt like this?

Does anyone else get very distressed when they read tragic stories about children? A story about a child who was left in a hot car keeps popping up on my facebook and other places on the internet (seems like there is always a tragic story about a child on the weather channel of all places) and I just get incredibly sad when I see it and it can put me in a downer mood for the rest of the day. I just want to go grab my son and hold him. That and I keep checking the back seat of the car. I don't know if this is just pregnancy hormones or if I am just very sensitive.

Oh yes. After my first I had major postpartum anxiety and this time around I knew to stop reading, watching, or listening to any news or current events from pregnancy to about the first year. I have no idea what's going on in the world or pop culture but my anxiety and ability to cope are so much better!

BabyPunk is almost 15 months and i STILL cant handle sad stories about kids. i wouldnt even describe myself as a "kid person" like i dont really like other peoples' kids but i know what story you're talking about and it literally kills me.
or if i think about kids who maybe didnt grow up in the best situation or anything like that i want to like crawl under my bed and cry.

My older kid will be 5 soon (shiitake balls, how has it been that long?) and I still have an embargo on sad child stories. I can't go there. It is really too bad for my mental health.

I've tried to stay away from that news about children and animals being hurt… when I had V, about three days later the Anders Brevik shooting happened and combined with the postpartum hormonal dip it just gutted me. Ugh.

I've always been a sensitive person when it comes to the news and even books and movies, and it was totally intensified after having my first child! It is even about good things too, like make-a-wish stories make me cry, people helping each other, etc.

So glad I'm not the only one! I feel a little better. I try to stay away from the news. I hate it when someone posts an awful story on facebook and it catches me off guard. Especially when it involves kids.

Got another question.

My son is going through a bit of a picky stage. He used to eat all kinds of berries, and now he just throws them on the floor. He also used to eat beans, but he will only eat them if they are in a premade food pouch. There were a lot of different foods he would eat but now wants nothing to do with. (Green beans, sweet potatoes, broccoli, beets, dried figs, he was always kind of weird with fruit but would eat some) Today, all he wanted to eat were pistachios, pretzels, and these banana muffins that I made. Oh and a piece of wheat bread. He kept giving a larabar but when I would open it he wouldn't eat it. Yesterday he only wanted pistachios. He also had an almond butter sandwich. (I think there was jam on it) I have been hiding any snacks because once he sees them, it is all over. I get a little nervous that he isn't getting all his nutrition. He does take a multivitamin. Grandma and Grandpa watched him a few days ago and all he would eat were puffs. I'm probably just being paranoid but any tips?

I do wonder if I'll ever stop being so sensitive. I was a moderately sensitive person before kids, but yeah, now I tear up at (stupid) car commercials.

Frankly, I just give up when it comes to worrying too much about my kids' nutrition. I figure, as long as my kids eat some whole grains, fruit/veggies, and something protein-y at some point every day (or even within a 2 day span), they'll be fine. My inner environmentalist cringes, but I also have tried to stop worrying about wasting food. I keep offering my kids healthy foods, even if they've thrown them on the floor a couple times before, because maybe, that is the time they will actually eat it.

My child eats nothing but peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, spaghetti, chili, and french fries...pretty much that is it. Nothing vegetable like, nothing resembling a fruit. Drives me batty but he is growing and gaining weight...

Pretty much any meal I prepare, one kid will eat it and one kid won't. Which one doesn't seems to be totally random. It makes no sense to me but I don't care. My rule is that you don't have to eat whatever I'm giving you but you're not eating anything else either. Some nights one or both of them eat functionally nothing for dinner. Likewise on lunch, though I don't see that as much first hand (just hear reports back from preschool).

Oddly they both like breakfast and almost never say no to any breakfast foods.

I keep offering them stuff they seem to not like, and occasionally it pays off. Recently the Emperor decided that beans are okay sometimes, which was like a dark cloud lifting off my life. I love beans so much but for the past two years they have literally driven him to tears. I want to eat beans again on a regular basis. PLEASE LET THIS LAST.
