Anybody use them with their pups?

I have just made another backpack (version 2.0, version 1.0 was full of bugs). I guess it's more saddlebags than pack.

We used version 1.0 last week and Nacho was totally, completely exhausted after a 15 minute walk (with about 2 pounds on him; he's probably 50 pounds himself). It also helped him with his behavior on the walk -- normally he's pretty aggressive with the small off-leash dogs that roam around the park (can't say i blame him but WTFDIK) but with the pack on he didn't even perk up his ears at them, he was all business.

I'd love to hear about other folks' experiences. I thought the whole "with a pack a 15 minute walk is worth a 45 minute walk" thing was a bit of BS but i was really impressed when we tried it out.

I'll see if I can get a photo once i put the finishing touches on the pack.

I usually put a pack on my dog when we go out hiking (this one, from Ruff wear). I usually just make her carry her treats and her collapsible water bowl in one pocket and a bunch of light rocks in the other, to balance her out. I try not to put too much stuff in the pockets as she's getting fairly old (and kind of lazy) and I don't want to weigh her down too much.

She doesn't seem to mind the pack at all and I have to say that she seems to like having a "job" when we're out on the trails.

i was looking at a site that compared the different types of packs and your pack got super reviews (the bladders, apparently).

We use one with our jack russell so that we can take him on hikes off leash. Without it, we have to leash him always because he won't stay close. With a pack with a few rocks on each side, he will hang out with us and not go bounding 50 yards ahead. We have the small REI pack and really like it.
