so, someday, when i am queen of brooklyn and can use all of prospect park as my yard, i'll adopt everything and life will be sweet. in the meantime:

he's been in shelters for four years! :( but his ad says he's finally found a foster home, which is awesome, except that it isn't my home and it really should be.

The description is quite to the contrary and I think it's just the black tongue that's throwing my friends off. :(

I think it's probably the glare from the camera in his eyes throwing them off. I think he's super cute, but yeah there's kind of a maniacal light reflection in his eyes, not his fault!

I want these these two old dudes. They are incontinent, mostly blind, and ugly as hell. They kind of strike me as crotchety old best friends. I want them so bad.

We seriously sat in a bar with 6 other friends and designed a way to share Waffles (the dog!) between us. I was in LOVE.

FEE! This thread kills me! It's like what I do in my spare time multiplied by a thousand. Too many cuties, not enough space in my home. Sometimes I have to force myself not to open petfinder except if using it to update our own shelter pets. I end up wanting them all or wanting to find them homes and it's all just too much. I already always have a list of about 5 dogs from work who I absolutely NEED to take home. I just took in a chihuahua and no have absolutely no more openings in my home. Bummer dude. I'm sure I won't be able to stop looking though. There may be room for rats or something...

It's a really good thing to do for animals if you have a nice camera, though! Go volunteer to take some cuter pictures. Some times the photo makes all the difference.

I did this with a friend over the summer, and if anyone seriously does this, I would also volunteer (aka demand) to put the pictures up yourselves. The girl I did this with is a professional photographer, so it definitely wasn't quality. We did the first few together, and then I took Brian a few times to assist, and when you throw in photoshop on a laptop that processes about eight photos an hour (and that's just color correcting RAW files, nothing fancy), I spent a lot of time on over a hundred cats. And they did almost NOTHING with the photos. Only a few went up on Petfinder, they shittily cropped a few, and for whatever reason they stopped calling us to come in and have resumed photos of cats with neon eyes and ribbons around their neck, looking pissed or terrified. I'll show some of the horrors they were posting before.

I don't consider the time I spent at the shelter wasted, because I got to hang out with a ton of awesome cats, it was just frustrating that we spent all of this time and they didn't utilize what we had given them.
