Precious baby! I hope she's okay soon. <3

Effie is at the vet getting an x-ray, they don't expect her to be healing much, we are just hoping it hasn't gotten worse because it if has it means the antibiotics she's on aren't treating it. Everyone cross your fingers for me!

The bone culture came up negative, which means either the bacteria was all hanging out in one place in her bone and the needle didn't get it, or it's a fungal infection, or there is a super remote chance it is bone cancer, or some mystery disease. We're hoping it's the first one and that it's a bacteria knocked out by the antibiotic she's on, and she's walking way better than she was so it seems likely...but I am nervous.

My kitties all have their paws crossed for her.

Effie is back home and her x-rays show dramatic improvement! The antibiotics are definitely working. She still has to be in her crate so she doesn't fracture her bone, but she has another x-ray in four weeks, really hoping that one will show that she's all healed.

I don't come in the yard very often, but let me know if you need to to come over and cat sit or watch her for a bit. Or just give her a different distraction.

Aww thanks Panda! Next week I'm only working 3 hours a day, but the week after I'll be working longer hours, and I might totally take you up on that, I feel sooo bad when I have to leave her in the crate for a long time, especially when she cries...

Too cute! I have the sling but my cats would slash my face to ribbons if I put them into it.

I would love a kitten sling! Sometimes I end up doing stuff around my apartment while holding her in one arm like a baby but it's hard sometimes!

Put a call out to your baby wearing friends! I did that to Fawkes because when we first got him he was really shy, and I took him to a friends house and he wouldn't stay with me so we slinged him and I stood up for the remainder of the visit (like, 30 minutes).

I got a used Jellybean sling for $14 at the maternity consignment shop that would be perfect. Maybe try there?

So Effie has been out of her crate for a month because her bone looked like it was stable enough, but still on antibiotics because it looked like there might be cysts forming. Today she had a follow-up x-ray and they saw a large mass in her abdomen. I'm taking her to some special place in the suburbs for an ultrasound in a few hours. The vet says she definitely suspects cancer but it's possibly it could be something else equally horrifying. Just requested a credit line increase on one of my credit cards. Um you're supposed to lie about your income right? I make under $20k a year but I might be rounding up a lot. She is 8.5 months.

We're going to VDIC Veterinary Imaging Center. I guess they've been the ones providing the consultations on her x-rays all along, now we get to visit in person.

Oh no! I hope it is nothing serious.

From my conversation with the vet, I don't think it being something not serious is really a possibility, but I guess I am hoping for multiorganism infection or a treatable form of cancer.
