So it's probably not cancer, it's more likely to be an infection. She has a consult for exploratory surgery on Sunday. Also they discovered some weird scarring on her upper abdomen when they shaved her for her ultrasound, so it's possibly she had some sort of horrible trauma when she was a tiny baby and it caused an infection there then moved to her abdomen and bone. Uggggh. Better than cancer though.

Definitely better than cancer. What an amazing life Effie has had since she met you- such a loving, caring owner, doing everything you can to help her get better. I'm happy you found each other.

Effie has her belly shaved because of the ultrasound, so I got her a hoodie so she's less embarrassed about it.

(For anyone who thinks I'm torturing my sick cat, she is SO easygoing and did not care at all. She's so calm they didn't sedate her for the ultrasound which is apparently super unusual.)

That is so cute! Poor Effie, I hope the infection gets better soon! You have done so much to help her these past few months. I have seen so many people give up on animals with health problems, and you have really gone above and beyond what most people would do. Effie is really lucky to have found such a caring person!

I appreciate the kind words everyone. I'm probably looking at being in being well over $10k of debt from vet bills, so I'm kind of freaking out about that, especially when I make less than $20k a year, but it's not an option not to do it...

I wasn't sure whether I wanted to do this or not, since I know a lot of people have vet bills of their own to deal with (I paid $1400 for my other cat last year, for example) and I feel kind of weird asking for money...but I'm also broke so I just did it. I've actually spent slightly less on vet bills relating to her bone infection/abdomen mass than I thought I had, so that's exciting I guess...but I am pretty terrified to see how much the surgery is going to cost, my vet said they could do it in their office but said the words "difficult surgery" several times and recommended going with a surgeon, so we're going to NW Veterinary Specialists, which is more expensive.

Anyway, so I made a Chip In page because a friend of mine used it once, it's just http://effie.chipin.com, so if anyone feels like contributing or sharing the page that would be so amazing.

PPKers are the best people in the world. You guys are so generous. The Chip In page still says 0--I think maybe because I haven't been able to accept the Pay Pal payments yet because I had to update my account to a new bank and it will take a few days for it to be confirmed? But I've received $235 which is just so amazing. I promise to spend it on the surgery and not just buy every color of cat hoodie. I love you guys!!!

Obviously Tuesday is awesome too, but the page basically just tells the story and then links you to my PayPal account, so if anyone just wants to skip the page and just go direct to PayPal it's amaeve@gmail.com.

It's super sunny here today so Effie has found a sunny spot by the window good for a nap--she's pretty lethargic (which makes sense--she was running a fever on Friday) but she looks pretty peaceful anyway. The surgical consult is in a few hours.
