I like people names for pets. Daphne (she's died of old age) and Chloe is 17. It was a more unusual name when I got her as a kitten. Now I noticed Chloe is in the top ten girl baby names.

Schwartz. I don't know why but I really like that name for a pet.

I have a Chloe too, although I didn't name her. All three of my pets I didn't name, but I love them just the same. I thought of changing them but it just didn't seem right. There are some awesome names in here. My favorite pet name I have ever given was Toula, the sweetest guinea pig ever, RIP.

Current pets: Chloe the cat and Cookie and Terrie, the two guinea pigs

Awesome names! :) I guess there is an opera named Daphne and Chloe. When I took Chloe to the vet the day I got her my vet asked me if I was an opera fan. I'd never heard of it.

It sounds like your pets were all rescues if you didn't name them. They are all nice names just the same. Sorry about your sweet guinea pig.

I'd love to name a cat or a dog Gareth. A good, sturdy people name.

I like food names for pets. Right now I have a cat named Rhubarb (Ruby!) and once had a Nacho and an Asparagus. I also have a Boris but that is because he is a giant bruiser of a cat.

My husband is British, we couldn't agree on names, so I asked if he would be good with names if I pulled them from a British names website and he said yes. Well, Chloe was my never-to-be-used-cause-I-don't-want-kids baby name. But the rest came from the site. I think they class the house up a bit. When they're not batting their poop around the tile, that is.

That is fab and I'm kind of jealous I didn't think of that first. Just don't leave any cross bows lying around. ;)

We got our current cat because when our neighbors moved, they left her behind. We noticed her in the middle of the street one night in the rain and kept her in our garage for the night so we could take her to the shelter the next morning. Lucky for me, the shelter was full and not taking cats at the time, so she ended up just hanging out in the garage for a few days until we could get her to the vet to make sure she was disease free and get Dusk (our other cat) to let her in the house because she was kind of territorial about that. We didn't give her a name because we didn't intend to keep her, just give her a place to stay until the shelter could take her. Finally, after we had her for a few weeks, my cousin made a joke about our auxiliary cat that we had in reserve in case anything happened to Dusk. She's been Zillary ever since.

My other favorite cat name is Sprinkles - that's the name of one of the cats that goes to our vet and it just makes me smile to think about it.

Our 6 month old black sheltie, Mina, recent acquired a second name of Susuwatari. She looks like one of these:

Aw, so that's what a chinchilla looks like! How cute! Like a kitty-bear??

I have three cats: Beans, Butters, and Buddha.
Butters came from the shelter with the name Sabbath, I assume because he's black. Black Sabbath, get it? hahahaha.

Oh gosh, I forgot about one of the resident cats at my vet's office! He's an adorable pixie bob called Boumba, who got the name because he has a deformed back paw and walks kind of awkwardly.

The dog I had when I was a kid who came from the animal shelter was named Tank. Years after she came to live with us, my mom suddenly realized that the shelter paperwork had some sloppy writing and she was supposed to be Tink(erbell). We kept calling her Tank though. I also now have a bunny named Mordie though she's a girl. The original owner named her b4 realizing "he" was really a she, but I just left the name--though now at the vet's office when going by her name they always say "he." I don't know if it's awesome or not, but I named my buff colored cat Buffy after the vampire slayer, though she's so laid-back that she'd probably be the one slain. I also used to have a white bunny with ear tips of silver whom I named Breezy as he reminded me of a winter breeze.

Some of you mentioned last names. I was at the vet's office one day and they do put your animals under your last name. A man came in with a dog and they asked for the dog's last name. The man said, "we didn't give him one, HE'S A DOG!"

I got to name my mom's dog. I named him Pinot. He would always whine when we got him. It turns out he likes to drink wine and any alcohol he can find. I guess the name fits.

This sounds like something my partner and his brother would do.

that's why unclegramps' bird is named mario tweeter. :-)

i had no idea that sadie was such a popular name when we found our baby. otherwise, i'd probably have vetoed it. (it does fit her though)

my kitty growing up was named bubbles, and one of her babies was named macy von cashmere. (the other baby was chrissy) then years down the road, we adopted a boy cat that looked like macy, so we named him macy von cashmere II
