... Because I am forever coming in here with things to say, then realising they're not important enough for their own thread, and then not saying them!
MINOR COMPLAINT TIME:
I have a sick cat and everyone is full of smug dismissive advice. "Just keep her inside all the time until she's better!" "Just have your roommate look after her so you can come away for the weekend!" "Just use a pill popped!" IT'S NOT THAT EASY, GUYS! Ugh.

I like it!
Sorry your cat is sick.
I sorted my laundry into 4 neat piles on the kitchen floor ready for a laundry blitz. I had to leave the house somewhat urgently in the afternoon though and didn't get back for a few hours. My cat ( or cats) had peed smack dab in the middle of every pile by time i got back.

I find guinea pig hairs on everything, even inside clean underwear. Poops in shoes, woodshavings all over the house. There's guinea pig debris in areas of the house that a guinea pig has never been.

i have hay everywhere.
far far away from the room that the pigs are in.
the good thing about having dogs too is that on the occasion a poop falls out of the cage it gets snorfled up the second a dog finds it.

Yeah, I sometimes have to wipe a cat butt too. I thought not having kids meant I would only have my own butt to wipe.

I need to mop the floors. But the yard is a disgusting swampy mess. Which means swampy pooches. Which means I don't think it makes sense to mop today. But dammit, so dirty.

Ginny and I have really steep stairs down to our bedroom, wooden. She's fallen down them a total of three times now that I know of, so far it's only happened at night when it's totally dark. Breaks my heart so hard. She seems totally fine but I need to figure out a solution. One of them will be to set up some light that can be on all the time there, though that'll be hard because there's no outlet nearby. The other one will be to get some anti-slip things or carpet, for some reason even though I feel like the anti-slip things will be easier, I feel like carpet will be more effective? I don't know. Augh I feel so bad that my 10 year old lady has fallen down wooden stairs at least three times! Twice in the past month!

I have to wipe my cat's butt sometimes. Both of their butts actually. Over the weekend I had to take Agnes to the emergency vet because she had a seizure or concussion (or both!) and she got anxious at the vet and pooped on herself and it was all up in her fur. Super fun. Olive has had chronic diarrhea for 5 months now and she's pretty fluffy so that happens too. She also likes to wipe her butt on whatever it convenient, like my bed or the couch.

My catboys are confusing the hell out of me. They love each other so much, groom each other, sleep all snuggled up, but they keep having these spats where they scream at each other and get all puffy-tailed. From what I can determine, Tristan (3) is really playful, albeit a bit antagonistic with Gershwin (10), doing things like running around in circles around Gershwin. Gershwin is getting older, and has always been crotchety and grumpy, it's just his way. Tristan play fights, and Gershwin gets angry and takes it way too far, and then corners Tristan and screams at him, causing Tristan to scream back. They stare each other down and scream. Then when I break it up, they go back to loving each other. Weirdo cats.

Mars, I'm going to recommend you go for the light source since you said it has only happened at night. If she was slipping in general it would be different, but even with carpeting she might still have too much trouble in the dark. Maybe a batter operated touch lamp or something? But adding traction might not be a bad idea either as she's getting older. I think I've seen stick down carpet panels... Something like that which can be cut to fit would be easy enough.

I just scheduled an echocardiogram in Clackamas for Agnes for March 23 and Olive is seeing an internal medicine specialist in Tigard on April 2. I feel like no one has cats as high needs as mine.

This is what spring is like for me. The backdoor that opens to the yard leads into the kitchen, which has light-coloured flooring that shows all the dirt. Eventually it gets so bad that I have to give in and mop, even though I know the floor will be completely covered in muddy pawprints approximately 5 minutes after I finish.

Even though it is bitter cold and driving conditions suck, I'm glad of it because it has frozen up some of the swamp in my garden that Lexi likes to roll in.
But since it is so cold it is becoming increasing inconvenient that Lexi wants the back door open so she can sit inside looking out.

I just went downstairs and couldn't find Tegan anywhere. I was searching all around the house. My mom was sitting in the dining room, and I asked her if she had seen Tegan, and she said, "Oh, I don't think so. Not lately." Finally I opened the dining room closet door (right next to my mother!!!) and there was Tegan, standing there patiently. My mom hadn't seen her go in, so we have no idea how long she was stuck in there. The last time I had seen her was about an hour prior, so she could have been stuck in the closet for close to an hour. And of course for once in her life she was completely silent!

raspberrycomplaint wrote: she could have been stuck in the closet for close to an hour. And of course for once in her life she was completely silent! One of my cats is like this. She's one of the miaowiest cats I've ever come across, but if you lock her in a completely dark room, or even just throw a blanket over her, she'll go completely still and silent. I thought it was only birds that were meant to do that! (I once locked her in the toilet for almost three hours without realising, so don't feel too bad, raspberrycomplaint.) Oh, and my sick cat is doing better! She had an ulcer in her eye (I KNOW, I can't even imagine) which was taking for. ever. to heal (apparently the median healing time for cat ulcers classed as "difficult" is 30 days, and we're well past that now) but it looked a lot less awful the vet this morning. The vet also very kindly offered to board her for the weekend when I mentioned that I needed to go away but didn't know what to do about giving her her medication (I'd usually just have my housemate feed her, but I'm not going to ask him to administer seven doses of medication a day to an unwilling and very stubborn cat). They said, "We don't usually do this, but as she's a regular patient...". :) She won't like it, but she'll be well cared for and I'll be confident that she's actually getting all the care that she needs... and I get to see my fiancé for the first time in three weeks.

My youngest cat really likes to play fetch. For some reason, when I'm in the bathroom she really likes to bring me things to throw. Every morning when I step out of the shower, there she is with a toy or two piled up by the tub for me to throw. I'm soaking wet and dripping water everywhere but she insists I start throwing her toys so she cat fetch them. And I'm a sucker so of course I oblige.

We have a hound mix that has done this to us. We have a small spare bedroom that was a guest room and we never use it and the door is always closed so we don’t have to heat the room. Occasionally I open the door to throw something in there that needs to go in the attic eventually. At least twice he followed me in there while I was doing something and I didn’t realize he was still in there when I shut the door. god only knows how long he just sat there quietly waiting for someone to find him. once we realized we hadn’t seen him in a long time we would call his name and ask if he wanted a treat and he still wouldn’t make a peep. We’ve also left him outside accidently for prolonged periods of time. he likes to play what we call “inside/outside” which basically means he wants to go outside and hang out when he wants to go and not necessarily on any sort of bathroom schedule. Our other dog only goes outside when it’s potty time and if you are 4 seconds late letting him back in he will bark his head off. The hound mix will sit at the door and just wait until you remember you let him out. He was out there for a good 30-45 mins in the snow/cold recently cause my husband forgot about him. didn’t make one sound. Felt terrible he was out in the cold for so long but he doesn’t seem to care about that. He willingly goes out and sits in the snow and just looks around. Weird dog.

I took in my parents' cat a few months ago. She is nice, but she's the clingiest cat ever. And she knows how to use her eyes and make little keening sounds for maximum guilt effect if I don't want to let her sit on my lap.

He had a little foam "soccer ball" and he'd bring it to me in the morning when I was in the bathroom getting ready for work. If I didn't pick it up and throw it for him quickly enough for his taste, he'd turn his head sideways and nip me on the back of the calf. He was an awesome kitty. We trained him to let us trim his nails so when he heard one of us using the nail clipper on ourselves, he'd run over and give you his paw because he wanted treats. We had to rehome him because my (now ex-)husband's allergies were literally killing him (he had an asthma attack so bad that he stopped breathing and blacked out behind the wheel.) In retrospect, I should have rehomed the guy and kept the sweet kitty.

Caught rotten! The past 2 days Lexi has been barred from the sofa. She has been doing really well. Only needed telling twice to get off before she knew she wasn't allowed up. I was upstairs steaming my face trying to cure my spots for the past 10minutes. When I arrived back downstairs the damn mutt was curled up in a ball on my spot on the sofa snoring away.
She jumped when she heard me say "off."
My spot was nice and warm though.
