Thanks, everyone. I don't know why, but this bunny thing is totally overwhelming me. Work has been busy and stressful and my insomnia has been bad, and I just don't feel like I have enough energy to give to my bunny. But maybe I'm just PMSing.

It is super emotionally draining taking care of a sick animal! Sending good thoughts to you and your bunny. Take care of yourself.

Thanks, guys. I think I was just really exhausted yesterday. Kismet is still very snuffly, but seems to be in good spirits. I have a vaporizer going in the room, hoping it will make it a little easier for her to breathe. And I'm going to bake more bunny cookies today, because she finished the whole batch.

She is definitely a fighter. When I got her, she was so tiny and sick. A nice family had found her outside and taken her in. They tried to care for her, but they didn't know anything about bunnies, so they were just feeding her carrots and lettuce. She had wounds all over her that weren't healing. Finally they realised the best thing to do was to take her to the shelter. She was only about 5 weeks old then. She was so itty bitty and adorable! I could hold her in the palm of one hand. The vet pulled six big botfly larvae out from under her skin. The wounds were all infected and the tissue around them was necrotic. The vet said she might not make it. I had to do a lot of nursing care for her. She pulled through and grew into a nice big bunny. So I'm hoping she can beat the odds again.

My bunny isn't getting better, you guys. She has to go back to the vet later this week, and I'm pretty sure he's going to tell me that I should think about putting her down. The poor thing has been sick for nearly a month now. The other bunny has been very sweet to her, lying next to her and nuzzling her face. I think she knows Kismet is very ill.

Thanks, everyone. I hate thinking about euthanasia, but I don't want her to suffer. She has been sick for so long, and I don't want her to continue to drag on like that if there isn't a chance she'll get better.

Well, Kismet spared me the tough decision and passed away last night. At around midnight, I went into the bunny room and gave her her meds and fed her some greens. She ate all the greens and looked okay, but tired. Then this morning at 8:30, my mom went into the room and found her dead. I just hope she had a peaceful passing.

I haven't commented before, but I've been following your posts in this thread. So so sorry for your loss. Kismet looked like such a sweet bunny, and she was lucky to have someone like you loving her.

Thanks, guys. My mom said it looked like Kismet just died in her sleep. Karma seemed upset and wouldn't go near the side of the pen where Kizzy was until my mom removed the body. They had been together for almost 8 years, so I'm going to try to spend a lot of time with Karma so she's not lonely.

Here are some pics I found of Kismet when she was a baby. (All I had back then was a crappy polaroid, unfortunately.)

And here is one from when she was a nice big bunny. This litterbox was her favorite place to be.

Thank you, everyone, for your kind thoughts.
