We're getting our first snow of the season here and I put plastic on my windows (like I do every year) and Fry and Digit have decided to destroy it. In the past, I've just covered little holes with duct tape, but now I'm talking major holes all the way up the window. Any tips or alternatives?

Could you maybe plastic the windows outside instead of in? What about taping the holes with double sided tape to deter them from scratching? Tin foil is a good deterrent too - maybe put it on the window sill but keep a small table near the window so they can still sit and watch outside.

My cats have never bothered the plastic, though the big picture windows they sit in in the winter don't get plasticked.

Thanks for the idea, but no luck on doing it outside. My townhome association would not allow it. I'll have to try the foil.

I have found that putting a few layers of duct tape along the frame of the windows and any cracks does a pretty good job of stopping drafts and is pretty cat proof.

The only problem is that its a hige pain to get that stuff off in the spring.

I don't want to hijack this thread but a quick update: Patrick has eaten his way back up to 15lbs and at his last check up his blood work looked good. Next month they will do another ultra sound and we should be able to see then if the chemo is working- but for now he seems happy and is enjoying his life-which is all that I want for him. So finger crossed for good news in December.
