There is zero chance of getting a costume on our birds without losing a finger or two.

Tilley is adorable! I think Charlie Chaplin would suit her. Some eyebrows, a moustache, a vest and a bowler hat.

Tegan is some sort of weird octopus creature this year.

OMG!!! That's amazing. I love the way dog next door is looking at Teagan. It's impossible to find costumes for bigger dogs where I am, but I'd love to dress Nola up.

Yeah, it's so hard finding costumes for bigger dogs! I don't even think of Tegan as a big dog, but I always have to special order an XL or XXL costume for her, and even then they never cover her whole back.

The dog next door heard us and came running to the fence, and then she just stopped and stared, like, "what the fork??" Tegan was strutting around like she was showing off.

seriously! Tegan looks adorbs. I'm pretty sure the other dog was thinking "I want one of those" of Tegan's octo costume.

I just bought Pepper a black harness, which means Halloween preparation is officially underway. I am reviving this thread.

Pepper's costume, by the way, will be a cluster of susuwatari. Biscuit's going to be Catbus and I'm going to be Totoro!

YESSSS!!!

Bigby will totally not go along with this, but we are going to turn a black dog hoodie into either Prince Monochromicorn or Nibbler and we can re use our Fionna and Cake costumes or our Fry and Leela costumes

I bought Amos a taco costume last week. Biker boy doesn't know and it will be a surprise. He told Amos awhile back that he liked him even more than he likes tacos, which is practically a declaration of unconditional love coming from biker boy.

I can't decide what Tegan wants to be for Halloween this year. I was looking at costumes online yeasterday, but it's so hard to find stuff that will fit her! I saw some cute stuff, but when I clicked on sizing, the XXXL would be, like, beagle sized. And I don't think I'm crafty enough to make something on my own.

Also, oh man, I looked back through this thread and Sable as the saddest peapod still makes me laugh.

Pepper's susuwatari costume is about 90% finished! I made ten pairs of felt eyes- six pairs got sewn onto teeny little barrettes to go on her body and four pairs got sewn onto her new black harness. All I need to do now is attach the pipe cleaner 'arms' to the harness and find a bead or two that looks like the star-shaped 'candy' they eat in Spirited Away.

Catbus is gonna be a little more effort :P

Oh these are all so great! Now I feel like I need to do something for Ginny and my boyfriend's dog. My BF and I will be going both as witches - nothing particular, we just have this idea that it was the standard cheesy non-clever thing and that we loved it for that. Maybe it would be funny to make both our pups witches also? Hmmm...

For our Newfoundland we used a (largish) children's costume and cut it down the front. We had to trim the skirt some, but it worked well since actual large dog clothes are impossible. We're having trouble finding shirts for George and he's not that big!

Mr. Fizz and I are going to be Adam & Barbara Maitland from Beetlejuice (in the ghost sheet costumes) and so we're thinking George will be Beetlejuice himself if we can find a striped costume and a wig he'll tolerate.

Benjamin is not joining the group costume and will most likely be either a pirate (we finally found his hat!) or a black cat (he likes the classics), depending on if he'll sit still for me to put his hat on.

George is going to be entering a pet costume contest this month, but it isn't human inclusive, so I think we need to do a costume for him that isn't a group one. Any ideas for award-winning costumes? The prize is a gift card to the pet store, so he is very invested since it would mean a new toy.

Significant progress has been made on the dogs' costumes! Biscuit's Catbus costume is about 75% there. I made a little bus to go along her back with craft foam and a hot glue gun, glued brown felt on it, and have sewn and stuffed eight little auxiliary legs. The first harness I made was too tight so I need to adjust the pattern and sew it again- if it's a fit, then the bus gets sewn onto the harness with the extra legs and it's done!

Today I also bought the fabric and notions for my Totoro costume, so it's actually happening this year. Very stoked on it, and depending on the success, will probably reuse this one in years to come :P

I had almost given up on finding a costume that would fit Tegan when I found this XL hippie costume. It kind of just looks like she's wearing random frilly clothes, but whatever.

Image

Of course as soon as I started dressing her, the entire family from the house behind us came streaming out into their yard. I was slightly embarrassed that I was standing outside putting pants on my dog, so I just snapped this pic quickly and went back inside. I'm pretty sure they saw, though.
