I subscribe to cat rescue forum some cats there may be handicapped in some way. The cats currently are stuck in the rescue which is house on wet mattresses with temps dropping. They need a place to put the cats or perhaps you might adopt or foster if you don't know where they can go. Often people on this rescue forum will chip in to do transports to get the cats to other areas if you are not on the east coast. Here's the details please pass this on to others:

This is an emergency situation. These cats are in a freezing house with no
heat, no hot water and are on mattresses that were soaking wet from salt
water when her house got flooded during Hurricane Sandy.
Please, if anyone can help by even taking 1 cat temporarily. Please see
Joanne's email below, she is desperate. Jenie

About Spay Neuter Wiped Out In Hurricane!!
Our facility, which is my home, had over 27" of water in it. One of our
cats drowned that night. We have some of our kittens in foster and Town of
Oyster Bay took some of our kitten temporarily.
Meanwhile, almost 20 adults cats are still in this house, with no heat, hot
water, electricity and sitting on salt water filled mattresses.
We are not asking for supplies, we are looking for a place to re-home these
cats. We are looking for a commercial space between 750 -1500 square feet
to rent for at least 8 months.
The house must be gutted and everything redone. Even when the electric goes
on, our circuit breaker board was under water, along with our electrical
lines, and the house could start on fire, without repair first.
There is no heat or hot water, since the furnace and hot water heater were
under over 40" of water.
