I just found these out in my yard. The small one was on the back porch and is darker. The others are completely clear. The bigger ones are marble sized. I actually thought they were marbles, until I touched them! They feel kind of like peeled grapes. Really gross and gel-like. The smaller one is firmer. Any ideas? Is it aliens? I hope it's not something really gross after I touched them with my bare hands!

Oh, gross. Now I'm debating whether I want to google "slug eggs" or not.

I thought about frogs, but I think they only lay eggs in water.

they are weird craft things that you soak in water and then fill vases or bowls with.

they are silica balls soaked in water.

if you have neighbourhood kids around, its from them, or a silica packet opened up somewhere.

they are super fun to play with and safe to touch.

I think they can lay eggs in moist areas, but maybe the area you found them in isn't moist enough...

Oh NM, LB solved it!

haha, i'm laughing about the $10 for a packet of those. you can get them for free from a shoebox or a package of nori or other packaged goods that need to stay dry.

I think this is the least gross option, so I'm hoping this is it! Our back yard is fenced and the gate is locked though, so if it was silica balls, it would have to have come from our house (in which case, it's probably Tegan's fault!).

well, the packets come in lots of different packaging, so a packet could easily have gotten ripped in a garbage can on its way outside.

Tegan steals stuff from the recycling bin on the back porch all the time, so if a packet was in a box and got tossed in recycling, I bet she would find it and rip it open. I really hope that's it, because I don't want to have slug germs!

Those look like slug/snail eggs to me.

I could put them back outside, out of reach of the dogs, and see if they hatch into anything!

Definitely not slug eggs - they are glooped together into a frogspawny mass, and are not perfectly spherical. They look like silica to me - maybe they'll hatch into a sandbaby.

This was going to be my guess.

Now I want to go buy shoes to get the free toy that comes with them. And I've been throwing those out all these years. Boo.
