Hey cat folks-- do any of you have a Litter Genie? My trash is always so stinky by the time trash day comes around because of the accumulated litter bags (they stink even when I tie them well). The reviews are great and I'm thinking of getting one (or maybe two since I have two litter boxes. I'd love to hear about your experiences though.

I haven't used one personally, but I do know people who swear by them.

I think they are the same as a diaper genie, which I've seen for cheaper. I have a separate garbage that I use just for litter and empty once it's full. I don't get much of an odor from it, but that may have to do with frequent emptying of the garbage due to having seven cats.

I have three of them! I foster cats on top of my three so I tend to have a house full and half a dozen litter boxes. They help minimize odour and make the job easier for sure!

Hey, I just wanted to pop in and give an update.
I got a Litter Genie last week and I absolutely LOVE IT. Not only has it eliminated all of my litter box smells, but it's so simple and close to the box, and (I'll admit it) kinda FUN, that I've been scooping the boxes a lot more than before (several times a day instead of once a day), so my cats love it too. Eventually I think I'll get another, so I can have one by each box... but for now, this simple little thing has been world changing in my home.

is it like a diaper genie where you have to buy the special bags? or can you just use regular garbage bags?

There are special bags. Apparently they're 5-layers thick to help with odors or something. But there may be a way to make your own bags work in it (though probably not with the same odor control-- which is the main reason I bought it). Each bag refill gives you 14 feet of bag and you use about 1 - 1.5 feet per time. It says each refill should last "up to two months with one cat". I've had this thing for about a week now (with two cats) and I'm just about to change the bag for the first time.
