I got my dog a life jacket, so maybe she will learn to swim this summer. She was excited to try it on! She likes wearing things (so weird).

We're taking her to our cottage tomorrow morning, and I am so nervous about it. My mom said that if Tegan is too freaked out, we can just turn around and drive back home. It's an hour and 40 minutes each way, so I'm hoping that won't happen! There's no fence there, only a long tie-out cable, so I've been putting her on a long leash in our front yard to get used to it. If she does okay, we'll stay until Sunday night. Fingers crossed!

That sounds like fun!

Our springer used to try swimming in anything resembling a puddle. We used to take him to a private section of Virginia Beach attached to the navy base. Sometimes he would swim so far out, we would get nervous and have to call him in or swim out to make him come in. He was the best dog.

I accidentally gave Lexi a hit in the face with a heavy ball today. I was out cleaning the garden and Lexi found a ball which is one of those indestructible ones so obviously we had to play a game of fetch. So with all her excitement she ran in front of where I was throwing the ball to and got a right slap in the face from it and was whimpering and hiding away from me. I ran upstairs to change my clothes to get her to the vets, ran back down downstairs, grabbed her leash and ran back out to the garden. She was running around chasing a butterfly with not a bother in the world. She ran over to me and smothered me with pooch kisses and cuddles. No sign of any damage to her at all.

If I'm like this with my dog what on earth would I be like with kids?!

I came upstairs to get Molly. I gave the macaw a piece of ice cream Oreo (they aren't chocolate) and told Molly that she doesn't need a cookie because she gets kisses and snuggles, she gave me "the look" and hopped back onto the macaw cage in her "waiting for cookie" position.

Oh man, I was kicking my dogs in the face all day yesterday. And not like, lightly tapping them, I'm talking full on toes in their eyes because I was so out of it and not watching my feet. I felt so bad, and kicked them all at least twice each.

Ugh, I've done this so many times with our lab. She LOVES to play with her soccer ball. Her favorite this is try to stop it right after you kick it (if she has to chase after it she does this super annoyed bark haha, it's super cute). I've finally just given up kicking it for her unless she's like five feet away at least. I can usually avoid her then, but I just feel so bad when I hit her! She, of course, is just annoyed I stop the game to make sure she is okay when this happens. It doesn't phase her at all.

We moved to a new apt today and I was just thinking about how I would usually be mopey and nostalgic from moving (have lotsa good memories in our old apt) but I couldn't feel sad because I was so excited and happy to show Rhodie our new place. He is a mix of anxious and curious about the new digs. At bedtime he started acting really weird and kept crawling around under our bed (he usually waits next to his own bed for me to cover him with his blankie), so we let him share the bed with us tonight (usually not allowed because I'm super allergic to his fur) and he's curled up by my belly snoring. Super cute. Can't wait for him to discover all the patches of sun in our apt to sprawl in tomorrow!

Lexi and I are loving this hot weather. Nice big walk in the morning then she gets to laze in the sun for the rest of the day in the back yard while I do housework and cook.

I think my dog was just trying to read a book. She opened the cover and then was flipping the pages with her nose. She is so completely weird.

The cats are so cute when I have the glass door open to the balcony so it's just the screen. They sit there for hours and feel the breeze, sniff the air, watch the birds and squirrels. I love when a gust of wind comes along and you can see their breeze blowing all through their fur. It seems to make them happy.

ARGH!!! This rain is driving Lexi mental which is driving me mental! She has a mighty dose of cabin fever. Why can't the good weather come back so I could leave the back door open for her all day?

Try googling rainy day activities for your dog. Hide and seek! Food puzzles! There's still ways to keep them busy and at least mentally engaged ;)

It is back to summer again! That was a pretty intense spell of rain. Like even with rain gear the past few days I was completely soaked right through to my skin.

YOU GUYS.

How badly do I want to adopt adorable little Diamond here? I'm giving it a spoiler tag cause the photo is huge but also because her amazing cuteness is even more effective as a reveal!

Spoiler: show

that's so funny, someone on the FB post made the same comment about her paws being "Seussical." Her smile is so ridiculous- there are 4 total pics of her up on FB (she's through the San Francisco Animal Control website) and each one is seriously more ridiculously adorable than the last. She has such a personality!
