Has anyone had this happen? My dog Maggie had surgery last June, then again in September? due to a rejection of her implant. Every since her second surgery, she has been acting hungry but she has gained weight.

1) Ate a bottle of oil pills (took off table)
2) Ate a bottle of laxatone (kitty laxative - took off table)
3) Ate a bag of tortilla chips (took off counter - bag was almost empty)
4) When she finishes her meal, she will go into our other dog's crate, growl at him and lick his bowl (this is as of this past week)
5) Took a loaf of bread out of the grocery bag and ate it (happened today - she has never done this)

She has been a fairly good and well behaved dog for the past 6? 7? years but since her second surgery, I feel like I have to be extra cautious. I never expected her to go into the grocery bag and eat anything.

I'm very frustrated. She is no longer allowed to go into the kitchen but I guess having no food within her reach while unsupervised is the new norm.

We've increased her meal size because we figured maybe she was just hungry and she was a little low on the weight side since her surgery but now she is at one of her highest weights. I just don't know what else to do.

is she on some kind of medication that might be causing digestive weirdness? Nacho has been having digestive probs since his two weeks of prednisone (lost a lot of weight and is constantly starving and actually yesterday got into food and got into trouble).

What kind of dog is she? If she is 7 or 8 and anything beagle sized or larger it could be stemming from a health issue unrelated to the surgery. Diabetes or hypoglycemia come to mind, or an absorption issue.

Any other weirdness? Increased drinking or marked difference in bowel movements (other than the obvious difference that would come after eating a loaf of read in one sitting)?

Any dogs I've known who hadn't been good stealers or excessive eaters in a younge age have turned out diabetic or hypoglycemic.
