Wow, not a happy post for my first one on the new boards. If someone is writing in graphic detail about abusing/torturing an animal on their blog, is there anything that can be done? Someone to notify? The person is in the U.S. but I don't know their exact location.

I don't really want to link it because maybe the person is lying and trying to get attention, but holy crepe. Plus, it's really upsetting. I know this is the internet, so I try to take things with a shaker of salt, but if it's true then this person needs help. And to be kept far, far away from animals.

Any ideas?

Oh that is awful. I would send the link to PETA and HSUS and to your local police and ask them how to proceed.

Where can I report offensive depictions of animal cruelty on the Internet?

You’re right to be concerned. Some of what is being sold and shown online crosses into the realm of criminal activity. And in some cases, there are laws against showing and selling these images.

To report websites that display acts of cruelty to animals, you should first contact the website host or sponsor. Major providers of Internet service, such as AOL and Google, have Terms of Service agreements that restrict depiction of objectionable material.

The next step is to contact the Federal Bureau of Investigation [http://www.fbi.gov/contact/fo/fo.htm] and the Department of Justice [http://www.usdoj.gov/contact-us.html]. Learn more about what’s being done about online cruelty: http://www.aspca.org/fight-animal-cruel ... uelty.html.
