Help me out Boston ppkers! We have been wanting to adopt a female kitten for a while, but have been striking out with timing on getting one. Right now, I am not working, so it would be awesome to adopt a little kitten so I can stay home with her for a few weeks. We are dead set on a female kitten. Our 12-year old cat is a super-jealous attention seeker, so we need something tiny who is not going to pose any kind of "threat" attitude or size-wise.

Seems like most shelters/adoption centers get kittens during random times, and they all get adopted right away. I know that Nevis Farm does kitten adoptions in the summers, but that hasn't started yet.

Any advice? I did not know that adopting a kitten would take so long or be so hard!

I'm so excited for you! I'm guessing you've already tried Petfinder? Regrettably I am not local to Boston so I do not have more specific advice than that.

Thanks! Yep, I check petfinder daily. They don't really have kittens. I also call shelters within a 15-mile radius, but they never know when they will get kittens, but when they do, they go fast and there are no waiting lists.

Thanks! I've been working with them for a couple of months. But they have only called once with kittens to adopt, but they were all boys.

I think "kitten season" starts in June, so you may be in luck shortly.

I guess I was looking to see if any ppkers knew of anyone personally who had kittens to adopt. Maybe someone who works at a shelter or fosters?

Yes, I heard about "Kitten Happy Hour" at Nevins Farm -- talked to them yesterday, but they did not say exactly when it would start.

I volunteer at Quincy Animal Shelter.http://quincyanimalshelter.org/Adopt_a_Kitten.html I know we currently have kittens in foster homes but I don't know any details about them. If you'd like I can check with the feline manager
