Has anyone else had to open a CareCredit card due to vet bills? June 4th Mar was rushed to the vet with some odd symptoms, his kidneys were not working. 2 days and the vet being a jerk I took him to a new vet. Last week 3 vet visits and 1 this week...My vet bills this month is over $1,000. He is doing so much better...I am thankful. I mean I would pay anything to make he him well.

I was wondering if I am the only one using CareCredit?

I did like...8 years ago? I'm not sure if you have any questions or concerns or are just curious but I didn't have any problems with them, it was basically like a credit card and very good to have access to in an emergency. I just paid it off as fast as I could because, you know, credit card.

I'm glad Mar is doing better!

I have one from my dentist. It's a credit card, pretty much, but with very limited use.

At least I got a deal where if it's paid off in 12 months there's no interest...

Ooo, yeah, I forgot about that! If they haven't mentioned it to you, ask about it.

Okay, I was wondering if anyone else has used it. Like I read the terms and such. I figure it is handy. The cat rescue lady told me to look into it. I do not know what would be better to try to make payments with the new vet or do CareCredit...

I am making payments for the June 4 through 6th stay at his old vet...Though I am not worried. That vet really pissed me off.

While on the subject of saving money...Mar is on sub-q, which we are doing at home. Is it cheaper to get supplies through PetMeds.com or through the vet typically? So far the new vet is a lot more affordable & is really working with us by staying open late and recommending stuff to get Mar balanced...

We used Care Credit for Chesters' hip, we got 18 months interest free. There's a minimum balance payment that goes down as you have a smaller balance, but ours was never very large for an ~$1500 balance. If you pay late you have to pay a $25 fee though, so make sure you pay on time!

I will get the payment in right away. I am only at a $700 level. I am only using it if he needs blood work and a case of special food. I can usually cover any meds or check ups he needs done...

Oh, that reminds me: there is actually a minimum for which you can use Care Credit, I think it's $200? You should ask your vet. So you can't use it for things like meds/regular visits anyway. I actually like that because it makes it truly for emergencies, there's no 'well I might as well put it on the card' mentality to get into.

One time I accidentally tried to buy Starbucks with my CC card. Oops.
