Hi PPK!
In September, I'm moving in with two friends who have two male cats. We're concerned that the cats are going to feel the need to mark their territory all over my stuff, if you catch my drift. Does anyone have any tips or tricks to prevent that from happening?

Are the cats neutered? Do they have a history of/propensity towards marking?

I would start getting them used to your scent in their space. Maybe wear some socks and a t-shirt till they are fairly lived in, take them to your new place, and put them in your new room and living areas. Also I'm thinking maybe if you take responsibility for feeding the kitties when you first arrive, that could help them get to know you as a positive presence?

One of our cats was neutered later in life and still marks while the other was neutered early and doesn't. The thing that helped with the marking was using Cat Attract litter and cleaning the box very regularly.

A Feliway diffuser might help. It will make the whole room smell like Uber Cat and should reduce marking tendencies.

They're neutered. They have sprayed in the past, but apparently it's been a while. They're also used to my scent and will lay all over my stuff.
