I'm taking Louie, our new kitten, to the vet tomorrow, but in the meantime I'm trying to figure out what's going on with his eye.

He has green eyes, but his left eye is darker in the green area, if that makes sense. In addition to the darker eye, he has a lot of swelling and goo. The discharge isn't the usual clear/tear discharge that cats get, but actually greenish brown. And his eye is crusty after he sleeps.

Milton had an eye thing earlier this week, but we thought it was just the result of a scratch or something from wrestling with Louie. However, since Saturday, Louie has had the same eye symptoms but worse. Milton's eye is all cleared up at this point, but Louie's seems to be getting worse.

It might just be me reading into it, but he also seems lethargic and extra sleepy. I took his temperature, but it was 38.4, well within the normal range for a kitten.

I read that cats can get pink eye, so maybe Milton gave it to him? Any ideas?

Right now I'm just using a warm cloth to clean around his eye when it gets crusty and waiting to make an appointment at the vet tomorrow.

Really that's all you can do without a diagnosis. Conjunctivitis is pretty common in cats, at least the ones we get from the shelter.

It seems to have cleared up completely. He was starting to feel better last night, running and jumping around. Then this morning he was all over the place with a perfectly clear and open eye. So I guess it worked itself out?

Might have been something irritating the duct. Glad it's all better!
