Ugh, MMC, I would definitely write a letter to the vet about the nurse (unless you think you can verbalize it in a calm rational way, which I wouldn't be able to). That's just not acceptable. I know it happens, but it shouldn't. It's a hard thing to go through and you don't need someone making it even harder. One time I had to say good bye to a companion animal and they had me pay beforehand so that I wouldn't have to endure going up to the receptionist and standing in the waiting room paying after I had just gone through losing my baby and I thought that was so smart.

I am thinking of a letter - I am really angry at this point at the nurse. I do not want to scream in a vet.

I am sorry to hear this. I am sending good thoughts your way.
I think it would be a good idea to write a letter to the vet about the nurse. That is just plain terrible behavior, and he could cause a lot more pain to others. Losing a loved one is already hard enough; you don't need insensitive jerks to worsen the experience.

Wow, definitely say something about the nurse. That is horrible bedside manner. I understand that it's an emergency vet so they want to make sure you pay, but there are ways to be more gentle about it. When we took Chester in, before they started they said that whenever we were ready to leave, just walk out and we would take care of the bill when it was time to pick his ashes up.

Oh, I am so sorry...I am actually in tears about your loss and the way the crasshole nurse treated you. Many many hugs your way.

Makes me remember when I lost one of mine, it was sudden and I kind of freaked in the vets office, and everyone treated me like I was insane because I was crying a lot. I thought it was very cold, especially since it was a vet...

I would definitely write a letter to the vet. It can help change the nurses attitude for future patients and owners. Have someone help you maybe, but don't wait too long.

Should I wait till I get Mar's ashes? I am paranoid something bad will happen...Through the cat network I found the owners name and have already thought of what to say/write. Again they have Mar's remains and his paw print I paid for...

I highly doubt the emergency vet would withhold the remains if you wrote a letter complaining about how rudely you were treated. It seems from what you said before that the vet was very good, and that it was just the nurse who had issues, not the whole establishment. But if it would make you feel better to wait, then go ahead and wait until you know everything is taken of. There's no need to add any more stress onto the situation.

I do not think they will withhold them - I already paid....I am just scared that they will do a mix up or put trash in them...My mind is constantly worried with this type of stuff.

I'm so sorry :( <3 Big hugs from my pups and I. I know what you are going through. It's been a week and even with Hero and Gizmo still running around, it is painfully quiet without my Daineypie.

I can't believe the nurse was acting like that, I get that it's an ER vet, but still, have some forking class and respect for the patient and their parents.

I haven't looked much into urns yet, but this company looks pretty nice, they even have a write up on the WSJ from this past summer.

Mainely Urns seems to have a pretty big and varied selection with great reviews.

Take all the time you need to grieve. And know that the ppk is always here for you. Feel free to pm me if you want to talk. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Actually we are going with Mainely. I just have had a hard time with the finality of it.

We are thinking of this one:

I was cleaning today and found the last wee pad/therapy blanket he laid on. I tried to smell him on it...:(

Finality is a very hard thing, especially when it involves losing something or someone you love so much. I keep trying to smell my pup on all of his things too, especially his harness. It's comforting but heart-wrenching at the same time.

That urn is very lovely. <3

Honestly I had this big clump of Apple hair from grooming her, and I kept it in a tupperware to try and keep the smell. I actually worked pretty good, it's only just recently lost it's smell, and it's been two or three years.

And the point of me posting that is I think you should keep it, seal it up, yeah it's really sad/depressing when it gets pulled out, but it's also really cathartic.
