I'm so sorry. I can't even imagine. I know she was such a sweet dog, and that she was very much loved.

Thank you for posting those picture of her, I was glad to see her one more time. This is pretty much what you always worried would happen, and I can't believe it really did.
Also, I can't find you on FB, so I am assuming you are gone from there? xo kittee Yeah, I deactivated my facebook account about a month and a half ago. Thanks for the email and the links! I am trying really hard to keep the forked up thoughts out of my head. Like, it's really forking with me that Bonny is in the back yard where it's cold. Even though I know it's not her anymore. If it was spring or summer it wouldn't bother me so much. I think i'm gonna get one of those 'make your own stepping stone' kits and draw a Bee in the cement/plaster to put over her.

oh I'm so so sorry! Definitely crying after reading your blog post. I think its really great of you to not be blaming your father in law or the dog owners. It sounds like the most horrible situation. Thank you for taking such good care of Bonny; I think that stone sounds like a beautiful idea.

I understand the conflicting thoughts about having her, but not her outside. I think the stepping stone is a lovely way to honour Bonnie, and might help to heal your heart a little. You are both in my thoughts.

I'm so sorry. That's so tragic. Bonny was adorable and totally rocked the pirate look after she had her eye out.
I know what you mean about her body- even though you know it's not actually her anymore, it's tough. I had a dog die once and we had to wait a day before we could bring his body to the vets, so we had to put him in the back of the truck outside. And it really bothered me that he was shut in the truck in the dark and cold.

It's making me nuts because I just want to touch my dog and I can't.
I don't know what to do with Chester. He's had a few moments of normal dogness, but mostly he's being a sad lump. More lumpy than normal. I can't really afford to get him doggie anti-depressants so I guess I just have to wait it out?

This is the saddest thing I've heard all week (and I've had a pretty shitty week). I'm terribly sorry. I think any way you can honor Bonny's memory (whether blogging, getting that stone, etc.) will help the healing process. It's never easy to lose a family member. XOXO

I can't really afford to get him doggie anti-depressants so I guess I just have to wait it out? If Chester likes being touched you could try grooming/massaging him. I did this 3/4 times a day for Angus when his brother died, after 15 years together. It really blissed him out and helped me work out some of that that 'not able to touch' pain.

fork, I'm so sorry. That's just awful. I think that the stepping stone is a lovely idea. When I experienced my first pet death (he was a hamster, named Sammy) I buried him in the back yard and planted flowers that bloom every year. It's helpful to me to have a marker there. You will be in my thoughts.

So the people whose dog it was stuck a card in the front door. I told my father-in-law that I didn't want to know which house it was because that would just make me angry. And, not surprisingly, the card just made me angry. I'm sure they are sorry, but I don't care. Nothing they could say would make me feel better and i'm just pissed off now. They were smart to just stick it in the door and run away though, I don't think Brian would've reacted very well if they had rang the doorbell.
