Oh, that's good! I thought you were concerned about her being pregnant now, and was thinking jeez, adopting a pregnant dog, what a surprise that would be! Did they give you any paperwork? It might say. Our vet always jots down notes about the exam and spay, usually saying everything was normal. If the dog was found pregnant on exam or during spay, it would be noted on the form. I'm not sure if it's standard practice for shelters to give all those medical records to adopters, though. She could have just lost weight through diet and exercise if the shelter was working on that. Especially if she was getting a ton of fatty people food and treats in her former home, and then going to a shelter and getting just dog food and being walked every day.

I think that's the most likely scenario. Her paperwork just has her shot records and "spayed" on it, no details.

Sorry for thread hogging! Cute animals, everyone.

Creep, I'd totally cry too (about Thea). But that's so heart-warming she's with her brother now. And congrats to both your family and Sissy! She looks awesome, and that's truly a great picture of you guys. (I was getting used to seeing you give baps a run for her money in the You Still Shouldn't Be in Pictures thread, ha.)

I was looking at old pictures on facebook (especially spring/summer/fall ones, because I am SO over winter right now!) and I noticed how much bigger Tegan has grown since we got her in 2012.

Here she is in October 2012, a week or two after I got her. There was a rainstorm and I put Sable's coat on her, and I remember thinking how ridiculous she looked. It was so huge on her! It stuck out so far in back that it completely covered her tail, and it hung down past her knees.

Image

And then this is her last week wearing the same coat.

Image

This is her skeleton costume in 2012:

Image

And 2013. It doesn't fit over her butt anymore! (I've been there, Tegan.)

Image

I remember when she first came home and people would ask how old she was (almost 10 months) and then they'd ask if she was going to get bigger. I'd say, "Well, she'll probably fill out some, but she won't get much bigger." Ha! Must have been all that good vegan food helping her grow!

Aw! Tegan!

Little phoebe is so sweet. I love old fashioned names for animal friends. We had a doberman named Phoebe and a pom mix named Mabel. The names really suited them!

Awww, Molly. She looks so soft!

Tegan was enjoying the warm weather today (and the giant puddles).

Actually, she has birdie stubble right now! She is full of new pin feathers so they are kind of sharp and scratchy when she snuggles up.

I love Tegan wardrobe photos.

She has the cutest little teal feather over her eye! Sometimes she gets that right after a molt. I melt.

I snuck up on the macaw with the ipad! It's so hard to get nice photos of him.

Here he is playing with his toys. He weaves the bits of rope into elaborate bits of macrame that he does all over the top rail. All of those clumps are tufts pulled of the toys and twisted and knotted together. He is pretty good at it! Maybe we can set up an etsy shop for macaw created wall hangings?

He's so pretty! I think birds are so interesting, but I know I couldn't deal with the amount of work they require. So I'll just enjoy them through your pictures and stories!

You don't have to walk them at 7am in the snow while they look for the one patch of grass good enough to pee on!

But if my dog was as smart as a bird and had wings... oh boy, would there be trouble!

I had a nice little budgie when I was a kid who met a tragic end (it involved the family cat, and I'm still upset about it). Then I got another, that I think was sickly when I bought him, and he died the day after we brought him home. I am much too scared to ever have another.

I have a fond (not really) memory as a kid of us on the Pennsylvania turnpike day before Thanksgiving. Torrential rain, traffic stopped for hours due to one of those pile ups people can't seem to avoid on there, and the dog had to go and wouldn't forking pee. We had to take turns walking him up and down, up and down the median strip until he finally got desperate enough to go. So then we were all in a closed car for hours with a wet dog.

Okay, I guess that is a kind of fond memory. Better than the time me and. The dog both barfed up cheeseburgers at the Grand Canyon. Oddly, it was also raining then.

I need to find some photos of him to scan in. He was an English springer spaniel and the best dog in the world. His parents were both grand champion show dogs and he had a pedigree worth tens of thousands, but he was the runt of the litter so he was being dumped. He used to go into full out show dog stance anytime somebody passed our yard. He played with the rabbits but would give a half hearted bark and act like a guard dog if anybody saw him playing with his bunny pals. It was the cutest thing. He used to let the parakeet pick at the hair between his toes.

Oh, that's kind of like Tegan. Her uncle is the #1 collie in the US. But her teeth are spaced too far apart, so she couldn't make it as a show dog. I try to remind her that she comes from very distinguished bloodlines every time she is doing something like climbing on the table or eating garbage. She doesn't care.

Such beautiful pups, kitties, and birds on this page!

Here's Baron, demonstrating one of the problems with having a tall dog.

Haha, oh man Lacy, I'm lucky Amos (doxie) only has that kind of access to the coffee table! He's a total kleptomaniac, but at least I can put stuff up on the kitchen counter.

We didn't realize how much he could reach until he knocked almost a whole pizza off of the counter and then ate it with our other two (very grateful) dogs. That was a sad lesson learned. In addition to being able to reach anything on the counters, Baron also knows how to open our kitchen trash can. We've had to set up a series of booby traps to keep him from opening it up and eating old lettuce cores and vegetable peelings. He also figured out how the ice maker on our fridge door worked and was serving himself and the other two dogs ice cubes. Fortunately, he seems to have forgotten about that trick.

He is fortunate that he's got a good personality.

Okay this I love. My dog loves ice cubes, and for some reason it gets me every time, the thought of a dog loving a ice cube.
