Search failed me, so if I missed a related thread, please send my silly self there.

I have a lot of doggie neighbors.
Their people walk them, but picking up seems to not be the local culture.
Most of the people don't speak english, and the ones that do are older or don't care.
So, I want to make my yard less attractive to the doggies, since their people are clueless.
all I can think of is loads of black pepper.

What other options do I have?
The yard is small. maybe 3x3 on either side of the sidewalk, but there are planters and trees taking up room.
(and I don't care if they pee)

the most humane solution? A fence of some sort and/or a pictogram sign "no dogs".

A funny solution? figure out where those neighbors live, bag up the dog waste and dump it on their doorstep.

I just sit by the sidewalk and stare at people walking by with their dogs. I have watched people let their dogs shiitake on my sidewalk. I suggest eye contact.

This site has some homemade remedies - the citrus one and the vinegar one both seem safe and humane to me, although I've never tried them.

Last summer my neighbors lawn became the local hot pooping spot (once one does it they all want to!). He put up a small box saying please clean up after your dog and kept it filled with plastic grocery bags, which helped a lot. And I've seen him chase people down and return their dogs deposit to them very politely ("excuse me, you forgot this!") and nicely wrapped in a baggie. Of course you might not have time to watch your lawn all day!

I don't know how people can let their dogs poop on other people's lawns! The few times I've forgotten a baggie I stand there mortified hoping no one will see, then I make a big show of checking my pockets for bags in case anyone is watching and I always come right back to clean it up.
