Help! My two kitties are very rebelous urinaters these days! They will only pee on soft things though; towels, laundry, rugs etc. I use anti-icky poo on the carpets and floors but I don't know how to get stink out of my laundry! I use vinegar in my laundry and rinse everything numerous times. All my towels and rags are starting to smell like a litterbox...

I started having the same problem when I moved to a house with carpeting. I've always lived in apartments with wood floors so I never had a problem before. One of my cats went in the corner of a carpeted room a couple of times so (as gross as it sounds) we set up a pee corner. I put down a heavy duty garbage bag with a wee wee pad on top and then a towel on top of that. I have a rotation of a few old towels that I wash and reuse. It seems to be working well for us, despite being a pain in the behind. She hasn't peed anywhere else since. That could possibly work for you? Maybe? Peeing on my laundry wouldn't fly but I use laundry baskets with lids on them. That could be another solution for you too, possibly. Or possibly trying a different kitty litter? As far as getting the chemical warfare that is cat urine out of fabrics, I've found that Woolite Pet Stain Remover with Oxygen works incredibly well. http://www.woolitecarpet.com/Products/product.asp?product_id=PetTrigger&variant_id=&Action+Key=FAQ&%23=Detail&cookie_test=1 I've only used it on carpet but it may work on clothes. We use All Detergent-Free & Clear on the towels and I don't notice the smell after they're washed. I don't know, I'm just trying to offer up suggestions in hopes that something works for you because I know how much it sucks.

Vinegar has always worked for me. Something about it neutralizes the urine. just put some in the wash with your clothes.

I'm surprised vinegar isn't working for you; it always works great for us! How much are you putting in? 1 cup per load of laundry does the trick for us--in addition to the normal laundry detergent. I've tried it a couple times with 1/2 cup amounts, and a smell lingered. Good luck!

OxiClean or some other oxygen-cleaner is my go-to for stinky pet stuff.

I will try upping the vinegar and see if that helps. Does anyone know if I can put oxy clean and vinegar in at the same time? Thanks guys, there is nothing worse then clean laundry that smells like a litter box!

Not to be a negative nancy or anything, but I've never had success getting the cat pee smell out of anything, no matter what I've tried! I just always throw the stuff away, including a whole couch a few months ago.

Yeah that's what I wanted to say too! Vinegar helps a bit but I don't try unless it's something important. Have a clean start! Nothing worse than thinking you've got a coat clean, wearing it then catching a whiff in public!

Does anyone know if you can put Natures Miracle in the wash? Maybe spot treat instead of just pouring some in the wash. Just spray some on the clothes before putting them in the wash. I do this with vinegar too. I just spray the clothes, I don't pour it in the wash directly. I can't say why though. I feel like spraying makes a difference somehow. I don't know what Nature's Miracle would do to colors/images on clothes though... Can't see it being bad but I don't want your stuff to get ruined!

Hmm, maybe I should try with hot water... I always use cold? I also need to be diligent about putting my laundry in more inaccesible places. Unfortunately they often pee on rugs, towels, and animal bedding. It is very rarely on my clothes mostly my linens. I just had to throw out my futon and I am hoping to save everything else! I was wondering if I could put anti-icky poo in the wash?

Try pre-soakinng in vinegar for about an hour before you wash.
That seemed to get rid of the pee from a friend of mines bag- when one of our shelter cats sprayed on it.

I have had had good luck with miracle clean in the past. For tough smells, treat the area, let it sit, but don't let it dry out - cover with plastic, or put in a plastic bag - make sure there isn't any ink on the plastic, as it could transfer.
