I have two cats, normally they get along great. Today for some reason I keep hearing these awful howls and when I go to check on them, Wiley, the larger male cat, is on top of Artemis attacking her :( They have been doing this all morning. I know Artemis can be an instigator so I feel bad for Wiley but at the same time, he is double her size and I worry he is going to hurt her. He is not mounting her, I have seen that before, this is different and it doesn't seem like play fighting.
I have a dentist appt in just over an hour and I am kind of nervous to leave them home alone. Any ideas?
I also only have one litter box so I don't want to put one of them in a seperate room without one...

I would put them in seperate rooms.
I am having serious problems like that with my other cats (usually friends!) but one is attacking the other, and the violence has escalated to a point where i am scared to have them in the same room. they cant be together without fighting. and definitly NOT play fighting.
